I don't totally understand why we got rid of him, to be honest. Yes, he had issues with injuries, but he was a more than serviceable contributor – I think he indisputably would have played in the 2018 grand final if it hadn't been for his knee injury, and might just have made the difference down back, who knows? – and he seemed like handy depth at worst.

He wanted out David and he hates the club from all reports. Thinks they mismanaged his injuries.

Such a pity if so. It's really not a good reflection on the club that so many players over the last decade have left disgruntled or been forced out when they didn't want to go. Only 25, too, so I would have thought his best would be ahead of him.

FFS, the club stuck by him for about 3 years more than they should have imo. I can understand why he would feel cheated out of an AFL career, but in truth he never performed anywhere near the level expected of such a highly rated draft pick. His injuries were such a shame, but the same could be said for Lee Walker. He needs to accept the footy gods did not smile on him and get on with his life.

Not sure that's the case, RB – from memory he had a very good season in 2018, and it made sense to stick with him the following year after his injury. Maybe you can make a case we should have cut him at the end of 2019 as opposed to 2020, but I'm not sure where you're getting three years from.

As for the question of whether his injuries (early or later on in his career) were mismanaged, I doubt either of us would have a great deal of insight into what goes on behind closed doors in that regard – it may or may not be a resentment with a valid basis, if indeed it is something he feels.

Oops... Was thinking of a different player. Should check thread title before posting!

But Lee Walker wasn't one of a whole team of players.

How can you be sure this was just bad luck?

I'm confused. Didn't he leave us in 2016 having never played a game? And didn't he get axed by the saints in 2018 after managing only 2 games?

Another failed first rounder.

^I think they're discussing Scharenberg The Slow. Remember him? He was the guy who was the 12th depth player in line for a position in defence in 2019.
