I remain a supporter of Bucks, but he has to make some radical changes to our line-up and game-plan if we are to get value out of this season. Whether he keeps his job is not a concern of mine at all. What's important is that we begin to play an exciting brand of football and develop young players as quickly as possible, as we currently have too many ageing players.

Those I would immediately drop (to be depth players only in 2021) are Mayne, Greenwood, Thomas, C. Brown. WHE needs a few weeks in the ressies.

In their place I would play Macrae, Murphy, Kelly, Henry and Bianco.

I would also move some players to different positions, with my preferred line-up something like the following:

B: Maynard Roughead Kelly

HB: Murphy Howe Bianco

C: Madgen Daicos Crisp

HF: Mihocek Moore Pendles

F: Sidey Cox De Goey

Foll: Grundy, Sier, Quaynor

IC: Noble, McCreery, Macrae, Henry

Cox should be on notice to improve or make way for others. Madgen and Roughead need to perform consistently or their spots would also come under scrutiny. Such a line-up would probably result in short term pain, but it would fast track a terrific and exciting team in readiness for 2022.

Obviously Adams and Elliott would slot back in when available.

I agree with you Rudeboy - mostly. I don’t just want exciting footy...I also want smart cohesive selfless footy.

Time must surely be up for Thomas - seriously most of the time he’s a yard behind play or off his man and looks like the kid being bullied in the playground trying to get his snack-pack back. I guarantee there’s not an opposing coach or player in the league who’s concerned about his match-up.

Murphy, Kelly, Henry and Bianco need time in the VFL - there’s nothing at all to suggest they’d be an improvement on the suggested omissions I’m afraid. Until they’ve earned it we shouldn’t be gifting games out of exasperation.

Anyway, this team would give the Weagles a scare with the right game plan and initiative.

In: McRae (new), Cameron
Out: Adams (inj), Thomas (omitted)

B: Maynard Roughead Quaynor
HB: Mayne Moore Howe
C: Madgen Sier Crisp
HF: Sidey Mihocek Daicos
F: Cameron Cox De Goey
Foll: Grundy, C. Brown, Pendles
IC: Noble, Hoskin-Elliott, Greenwood, McCreery, McRae (one to be omitted)

Youth, run, speed, and grit in the right spots and mix.

I agree, but I would have Murphy and Diacos on the wings. I think we are wasting our breath...when has Buckley ever dropped J.Thomas?

I also think WHE can still be a very good player. The delivery from the midfield is awful. Some half decent supply would make all the difference to a player of his style.

Not that I care much - but how would Roughead's position come under any special scrutiny - it seems to me that he's generally performed to a high level this season? Good full backs will, typically, be beaten by good full forwards some weeks. I know we don't have any recent experience of that at Collingwood because we have played without an actual full forward since Cloke was summarily moved on - but most teams do have at least one competent goal-kicking target who is capable of getting a kick even against a fine player.

P4S, I agree that Roughead is doing well this season, but he's getting on in yrs and ain't particularly fast. I guess all I'm suggesting is that we should be grooming his replacement now.

Agreed, we wont win the Premiership, so get something out of the season, blood all our kids, one, two, at a time, get games into them, and experience, they are our future. Swans have shown the way on that one. The line in the sand is now a big bloody trench, so play the kids, and i hope we do.

I’m a supporter of Bucks too and I’d like the Collingwood Football Club to come out as soon as possible and make a public declaration that they are right behind him.
