Put simply, our recruiting and list management has been shite for many years.

The coaching has been the biggest flaw.

Apart from 2018, we’ve played a shit brand of football for the past decade.

^ All areas have problems... Not just recruiting, list management, coaching...
Also fitness and injury management, etc.

It's all due to being unprofessional.

So Hawthorn are headed back to the bottom of the ladder to rebuild properly.

Because they are able to do it properly, they will bottom out for a couple of years, pick up a few 15 year talents and be back up in 3-5 years competing for flags.

We on the other hand feel the pressure to compete EVERY SINGLE YEAR and so hurry the rebuild and don't allow ourselves the time to use the draft to our advantage.

We could have had the first two picks in this years draft if our fans would have allowed us the ability to finish last!

Instead we burnt a whole lot of capital trying to manouver to pick up a whole bunch of solid but apparently mediocre players.

and i say this already knowing that i like McCreery and Poulter.

What? Pretty sure the Hawks have traded away all top end talent draft picks to top up year after year to stay relevant.

That is what you should do when you have a great team. They won three flags that way. That is what you are supposed to do. We tried to do that in 2018. Came so close to stealing a flag with a list that wasn't quite there.

Having done that, we have to take our medicine and bottom out, properly. The senior players in our team aren't playing in a premiership at Collingwood. its time for a full rebuild.

We seem to still be spending a lot of time lamenting that we aren't winning games. and calling for sackings as a result.

Fact is, we are rebuilding. the fact that Henry and Wilson are out there getting game time puts us two men short right out of the gate. The fact that Callum Brown can make our team on merit is all you need to know.

I hear that the world is collapsing at Collingwood. Why not at Hawthorn? Their fans allow their team to rebuild.

I'm under no illusion we're facing a rebuild and it will take a few years to fix the list.

I just don't want the current coach to oversee it.

Not sure it’s my fault, or anyone else here that we don’t have the 2 top picks, idsay that’s more yo do with dumb trading, trying to do what MM actually achieved when he picked up ball and jolly,

Might have e worked too if someone, anyone was smart enough to trade the picks for a fricken bona Gilda full forward!

We would have at least 4, probably more wins on the board this year, if we gad a fricken forward line.

Play Cox, even if he is just a decoy,

And you know what, since it’s my fault, don’t trade for anything but a F F , if I’m coping the blame, I get yo decide!

Their fans also stop going to games and giving a toss when they are losing.....

it begs the question - would you rather have a team that is awesome for 6 years and wins one or two flags and then is bad for 6 years or do you want a team in the top 8 every year but never quite good enough to win a flag?

its hard to have both.....

Hawks are the oldest side in the League, and some commentators are getting into Clarko for not recruiting kids, just re cycled players, they reckon he should have started the rebuild two yrs ago. The Cats do the same, they are an old team too, they top up with re cycled, like Higgiins, Rohan. They have to win the flag this season, cos once Hawkins and Sellwood retire, and a few others, that will be it for them. Imglad we are playing kids now, short term pain, hopefully, for long term gain.

100% rebuild time, to be honest next year is a right off but at least we'll get Nick and maybe pick a lucky late pick.

imo realistically (and i know, no one wants to be lingering around the bottom of the table) we can most likely right the next TWO years after that off too. Why because if we are going to rebuild, we only want to do it once...

The first thing we should do is offload JDG for a forest and second rounder. He is a disgrace and performance doesn’t warrant stating anywhere near our list. Even if we show a Heath Shaw. Lyon will choose his own list anyway...

Imagine if we could get Cam Donaldson, Mickey Dimisch and Andy Payne in our goal-to-goal line.

We could re-build in 12 months.

Makes absolute complete good sense E!
Also agree that McCreery and Poulter have made impressive beginnings.
