So far wolf, you’d have Ross the toss Lyon as coach and also bring a midget plodder as our star recruit. You really want to drag this club into the gutter.

Are you referring to Petracca? If so, you are very much mistaken, would be the biggest recruit since Buckley, and has a higher ceiling than even him

Kayle Kirby?

If he is the player that you are thinking of, it was very doubtful that he would have made it. He had nowhere near the speed and agility of Pickett

I said before, I'll say it again - suggest someone - who's experienced and available.

As for Petracca - He is a luxury, not a necessity. We may not be able to afford a free agent at all anyway (or at least the top end ones) if our 'youth' develops the way we hope and we have to pay them some coin. Again I can't see to many in the near future free agents which are gun KPF.

Ps: As for Lyon, I don't specifically want him either but I at least acknowledge him as a quality coach, also the games changed - Ross understands this... we won't be seeing 'siegfried line' style tactics from him. I'd be just as happy with B.Scott.. almost, I think Ross is a better coach but Brad is more passionate.

Lyon IMHO would be a fantastic head of football personality. He by all accounts has a fantastic reputation as a good people’s person. He could also assist a senior coach whom may not have years of experience at the helm. The problem with Lyon for me is he is years out of the game and was a shut down game specialist. Our team needs an outlier for the good of the game.
I hope that the CFC do a thorough search for a new coach but I especially want the CFC to make the decision to outsource a third party that has the credibility to hand pick our next coach. There cannot be any bias in this decision. If Lyon was picked as coach it stinks of Eddie DNA. It’s time to wash our hands of the last decade and start a new dynasty.
Please forget my response re your post as i didn’t mean to offend you. What I was thinking about was our style needs to change as much as our current coach ASAP. Players like merrit and coach’s such as Lyon will get us nowhere and would send memberships south. It’s time to forget vanilla and to brighten up the future.

Um no.
Petracca is the dynamism we need. A full forward and a sneak too.

Mark my words, he is a deadset gun, watch this space, whoever he ends up playing for.

Certainly a full forward would be desirable....its been a long while since we had one

Thats him...certainly a more portly fellow than Kosi, I'll grant you, but he showed signs of being a great crumber...Kosi is a bit light for September methinks

We'll never know what Kirby could have been. But we do need to find that kind of player that Pickett is showing to be.

Getting back to Petracca, I cant see a way to make a trade. Dees would be asking a massive price.

Can we wait another 12 months to sign him as a free agent? That's if he even wants to play here.

Can we afford him and does he want to play here?, two things that I'm not confident are a "yes".

My best guess is that Pendles retires at the end of 2022.
That should free up a few dollars. That in itself means they should look to bring in someone with both leadership qualities and game breaking attributes between now and then.

End of 2021 unlikely as he is under contract still and we have no first round draft picks of which 2 would be the starting price. Additionally, even if we attempt to prise him out as a free agent, the Dees shall match a bid and force us to conjure up multiple first rounders AKA like the GWS did to Geelong for J Cameron.

There weren't many replies.

Walker is in AA form now tho.

The problem with these guys is their age (Both over 30). Aren't we better off to go for some younger options?

I worry about players like Sidebottom and Elliot when they reach 30. In terms of physically strong players like Cunnington and Walker who dont rely on speed and evasiveness, 30-35 are good years still, especially 30-33

I feel like we have enough young players, we really need a couple more veterans who actually contribute. Mayne and Greenwood are veterans who offer nothing moving forward to be truthful.

Right now I look at Collingwood and I think to myself who are the leaders?

- Pendles
- Adams
- Sidey?
- Howe?

Not enough IMO, prob why we let the 2018 GF slip away too

Lets be Real

Is Petracca going to provide absoloute leadership as part of his price-tag? I don't think so..

Skill is an overrated value when a team has no HEART

Sidebottom should be moved into the forward line as a small fwd where he can use his smarts (should have been done a million years ago..).

The problem runs much deeper than that

The problem runs that deep that we are talking about the depths of Hell

There is no Leadership

There is no Accountability

There is no Heart
