If after 10 years you keep losing games due to the exact same issues, then yes it’s fair to blame it on the coach. Or are Buckley’s Brigade still trying to push the myth that the coach has absolutely no say in the list management?

We win the hit outs 63-4 yet 40 of those hit outs are 1m fairy taps straight to ground. Heck I counted 3 from the centre bounce that Grundy hit to the opposition ruckman.

You tell me these fairy taps are not by design? You have a dominant ruck but clearly the coach doesn’t want the ball coming out into space.

He has a plan. Just because it didn’t work for a decade doesn’t mean it won’t work. Ever. As a multiple Premiership player he knows what it takes to win Premierships. We just need to persist. If anyone criticises him you should be ashamed. He deserves another 3 years. Ten years of the same method is not enough.

Did anyone else see this on FOX last night?

Buckley's demeanour was what you expect of a man who knows he is on death row, but defiantly believes he's done nothing wrong. He spent almost the entire presser trying to say he wants the ruckman's hitouts stat dropped from the AFL. He said he doesn't rate hitouts as important.

So the media dug deeper and Buckley just got more confusing. 64-5 were Grundy's hitout stats last night. And yet we lost the centre clearances 13-12. Now it's easy to blame our mids (and there's plenty of that to go around), but Buckley tried to say that none of the ruckmen in the AFL are hitting to advantage much. He mentioned a few - significantly not mentioning Nic Natanui who is easily the greatest tap ruckmen since Polly Farmer. Almost every hitout from Nic Nat goes to his man. Grundy would do well to watch some of the Nic Nat highlight reels.

But the most disturbing aspect is that this is the one part of the game where we potentially have a huge advantage, but Buckley doesn't rate it. He doesn't rate motivation either - and last night he looked more like an undertaker than a coach. Why doesn't he tell Grundy to punch the ball forward, or tap the ball outside of the pack instead of dropping it at his feet. Try to use the advantage Buckley instead of claiming it doesn't matter. In fact is does matter. And this is one more piece of evidence Buckley is the least intelligent coach in the AFL.
