Happy Birthday Collingwood FC!
For 129 years the Collingwood Football Club has brought us joy, tears, frustration. elation and every other human emotion that could possibly be felt in quantities that are impossible to manage.
Its been a bumpy ride with many ups and more than our fair share of downs. The test of our character has been in how we bounce back. After the disastrous presidency of Ern Clarke, Jack Hickey lead Collingwood to be the only league team to go from a wooden spoon in 1976 to finish top of the ladder in 1977. A record that still stands today. After the calamitous "New Magpies" Allan McAlister lead Collingwood to the drought breaking 1990 premiership.
We sit here today, on our 129th birthday, on the eve of a new era at Collingwood. Things look pretty grim again but if everyone who loves the Collingwood Football Club works together to make this new era a better one, a more inclusive one, we will surely rise to be the great football club that we should be.
It is now a time to be better, to do better.
Racism has no place in sport and certainly no place in the club that proudly wears the Black and White stripes. The experiences of Wally Lovett, Heritier Lumumba, Leon Davis, Adrian McAdam and many others who have felt marginalised, inside and outside our club, for what they look like must never be allowed to be repeated.
Lets raise a glass to our Mighty Magpies and to a better future for all who play for, work for or barrack for the Collingwood Football Club, the team of Black and White.

Yes,great, just so long as next year, the big 130th milestone, we do NOT play Carlton in the historic game, we never beat the Bluescum in big anniversary games, they beat us always, maybe play the Suns, hey ? _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

As a young fella I used to sit directly behind those little corporate boxes. Had Graham Kennedy in there once.
Great memories.
