the good thing about fruit picking is that your weekly pay correlates directly your own productivity.

the corporate world is a different story. too many people overpaid/underpaid relative to output.

However what you ignore is the elephant in the room (elephants):

Base rate is poor
Conditions even poorer
A lot get appalling accommodation and they put quite a few in a room together
Multiple examples of forced long hours, appalling exploitation and in some instances abuse is not uncommon.
Withholding of money is also not uncommon

However, apart from those inconvenient details you’re 100% on the money
