There are a few but my out and out favourite is number 20 Chris Tarrant I’ll say our best player too. Still baffled why he went to Freo in out premiership year 2010 we might have won the grand final the first time if he was with Collingwood.
To me he was the quickest player ever to play the game too.
Off field very quiet and a Collingwood star that wasn’t controversial free too.
Got to meet him a few times at various Collingwood functions and he is a gentleman and holds him self very well.
Taz is number 1[/b]

Can't go past Dane Swan, what an exciting player he was.

Also loved a few others, notably Leroy Brown, Travis Cloke, Chris Dawes, and Shimmy man. Maxwell was ever so reliable in defense.

Loved Treloar!!!

In comparison this current team does not have a lot of excitement.
Hopefully a young player can now come through.

Getting rid of Tarrant was the beginning of the Collingwood premiership team. Saw what happened the next year when he came back.

First 10 years great.

I base my favourite player on a balanced mix of a quality personal character which includes doing absolutely anything in his power to see the team is the
important thing
How I rate him as an A or a B player based on skill to me is not what he was all about
It was club 1st ,2nd and 3rd —admiration for him always

I’m talking about Tyson Goldsack aka The Sack

1. Dane Swan - When he was at his peak I remember going to a game at the MCG. I watched him solely to work out ie, how he ran (he ran in different gears), when he ran (timing), distance he covered and how he got his possessions. OMG he was a freak! It was a tragedy his career finished they way it did in 2016. I felt that he could have played a few more years if his mind was willing because at that point he hadn't lost any of his speed and he had minimal soft tissue injuries to that point.

Then Closely followed by
Ben Johnson - for a guy who had an unusual left foot kick and could not use the right side at all he was an extremely good player (very rarely got tackled).

Pendles - Like watching poetry in motion week after week.

Leon - Skills by foot. He had no peer.

Agree absolutely with Swanny and Johno but my number 3 is the man who was All Australian back and forward, the one and only Lightning Leon Davis.
Forget the forgettable grand finals, he had that special something around the goal square and was the magic man of the era,

Was it causal or correlational?

Yep, that was an incredible achievement by Neon Leon. I wonder how many AFL players have done that?

There have been so many favourite players for me:
* Dids for his exquisite foot skills and the shimmy (and the three goals in three minutes)
* Swanny for his laconic brilliance
* Pendles for his artistry and longevity
* Maxy for being the tough captain that walked the talk
* Tyson Goldsack for his exceptional courage and team mentality
* Heater for the smother of the century
* Krak for overcoming personal adversity and creating goals out of nothing
* Varcoe for being the best run down tackler
* Taz for his athletic ability and sculptured arms
* young Daics for his ball manipulation skills by hand and foot
* Checkers for being the quiet achiever

There are so many, many more, that I'm sure other Nicksters will mention, because anyone who gets to run out in the black and white is usually a favourite of mine!

^I think the negativity towards Buckley the coach has taken the gloss off Buckley the player in some people's minds. It's important to seperate the two.

Purely in terms of my favourite player, I find it hard to split Swanny, Daisy and Dids, because they each had that sense of cheekiness and were all exciting match winners.

However, the best player has to be Pendles, for his consistent elite levels of performance, much like Bux delivered in his time.
