Cheers for the update Matt. Big preseason and he’ll be banging on the door next year. |

I hope so, Josh Kennedy couldn’t get a game at the Hawks, moved to Sydney and became a star.
They need to make sure at some point they reward effort. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Pretty sure there was another thread on Finlay where I posted a comparison against other Vic midfielders from the same draft. Most of the Victorian early picks who missed an entire season from Covid are struggling to make an impact at AFL level. Give him time. He was a fine junior and he has a good work ethic. He’s got a bit of catching up to do yet, particularly if you come to an AFL club as a pure inside mid fielder. |

He was an absolute star at Xavier College. He will be a star at AFL level too. He effectively missed 2 seasons of footy before being drafted.
Give him time.
Reckon Nicksters will enjoy what he produces for the Pies over the coming years. _________________ 3KZ is football |

Finlay will play when the coaches think he can impact when and where they see fit. What’s the issue here when we have just secured him to the books for 2 more years and in the meantime be able to work on he’s fitness and football craft without scrutinise. _________________ no second chances |

Good to hear, I was a big rap for him when he came to the club. He was coming off surgery when we drafted, right? |

He, along with others are just a victim of circumstance. That circumstance being our form and meteoric rise up the ladder. If we were out of finals contention then he'd have been given more games, but hard to drop anyone while we're winning and playing well.
Good to hear that he's got 2 more years. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

He looks too small and too slow, at this stage. There's still time - but he doesn't, at the moment, look like he has anything much to work with. |

Fine game today in the 2s - 30 disposals (15 k, 15 ha), 2.2 and 9 clearances in a close tussle. |

Starting to clearly look a class above. Not dominating (maybe this week), but on his way there. |

Collingwood have him listed as 188cm and 83kgs. He maybe slow but that’s not small for a mid fielder. |

We haven't made many mistakes this season but not exposing Macrae to senior level after he's steadily built his form across the season is one of them. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Impressive performance in the reserves today.
Surely he needs to be considered by match committee next week? _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
