He's certainly a talent.
I'll be happy if he kicks half as many as McKenna did. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Henry's marking actually reminds me more of 'Fabulous' Phil Carman, the way he leaps in to take pack marks from the side. He is a very different player to McKenna, who was never really a great high mark, but was brilliant at leading out fast and marking on his chest. McKenna's goal kicking accuracy was actually better than the stats suggest, when you consider that many of his shots on goal were taken from 50 metres often on acute angles. The only other player I've seen who was close to being so accurate a goal kicker was Alan Didak. I still don't understand why Dids isn't employed to teach goal kicking to our forwards.
FWIW, I am actually very impressed with the goal-kicking accuracy (apart from last week!) of Ginnivan. He has a very simple, steady and relaxed kicking action. |

To me he plays like Gunston at the Hawks, 3rd tall marking forward, or Fritch at melbourne. Tall enough and good enough in the air to warrant a good defender, we just need to have other tall targets around him going forward. |
My father (who is 90) reckons he reminds him most of Royce Hart. Not heavy framed, but with a great leap and very strong hands, and a clutch matchwinner when it needs to be won.
That is three weeks in a row he has stood up in a last quarter to take contested marks and win the match off his own boot. Right now I can’t think of another player in the AFL who has done that. This kid looks to be something very, very special. |

Peter McKenna, Barry Price, the Richardson brothers....brilliant players but no premierships...still, that's history.
Some of Henry's attributes remind me of some players. Peter McKenna was a wonderful lead and a superbly accurate kick, but he was not a high mark.
Ollie Henry is at the start of his career and the early signs are full of promise. He'll do better if there are forwards around him who are good enough to attract defenders. At this stage I don't see Ollie as being a key position player, but with a couple of pre-seasons and more muscle and weight, who knows. |

Hell he even looks like Peter.
When McKenna was 19 he averaged close to 2 goals a game.
Very similar to Henry this year.
Henry is currently 19 also.
He moves like McKenna and he leads like McKenna.
McKenna had 2 brothers in the Richardson boys who always could hit him on the chest
We also have 2 brothers in the Daicos boys.
Once in the centre they could be better than the Richards boys
McKenna also had Bary Price...what a great kick was he.
I think Henry is a better mark at this earlier stage
But I don't think anyone besides Dunstall was a better timer on the lead than Peter
Really look forward to this kid developing
If he is a half as a good kick as Peter then it will be something to look forward to | Good observation. _________________ VOTE NO. Cancel the Cancel Culture. |

YES. I've always thought there was a potential great player lurking within a kid who didn't yet believe he was good enough. The last 4 weeks shows he knows how to get the ball, and late in games that are on the line too. It's time to believe we have something special here. |

It shows how your memory fades. The stats show a two to one goal to point ratio, but I can't remember him ever missing within range of goals. |

Great call about similarities to Royce Hart. Hart use to be able to float accross the front of the pack to take marks, as Henry does. |

I'm wondering how Henry can get back in this current side to be ready for the finals.
Tough matches will continue so will it be next year now? _________________ Jamie Elliott...you beauty

I just see him as a good young player who can’t get a game in a team that’s won eleven straight.
All our forwards have played major roles in the last few weeks, so I’m not sure by replacing him with one of our existing forwards, necessarily makes us better. He will get his chance soon enough but I don’t see it on the back of the omission of a forward ( although kicking a bag in the VFL would make for a compelling argument ) |

Oliver needs to work on his defensive accountabity at this stage of his career.
Cameo's here and there have highlighted his ability, but we need it for more than 2 quarters.
If The Ghost's injury sees him out of the side, I think we'll see one of the Brown brothers or Macrae come in. All present more versatile options than Oliver. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

Given that Ginnivan plays relatively tall, I would be ok with swapping him out for Henry for this week. He's been poor in the last month, aside from a good quarter or two last week. I think he needs to get back to the twos, focus on his game and not the umpiring stuff, come back for the finals refreshed.
In general, I would like the coach to instruct our players to stop looking at the umpires full stop. Play the ball until the whistle is blown. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |
