Welcome.
Quote: | Collingwood have selected Oliver Henry from the Geelong Falcons with pick 17 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft.
SELECTION: #17
POSITION: Medium utility
DOB: 29/07/2002
HEIGHT: 188cm
WEIGHT: 77kg
PROFILE
Oliver Henry is one of the more versatile players in the 2020 AFL Draft crop for his ability to play at either end. As a whole, Henry is a first round prospect for a combination of his athleticism, reading of the play, decision making and adaptability to play in attack or defence. He has some nice upside, and once he can develop some more strength to win one-on-ones, and gain greater consistency throughout four quarters, then he will be a special player.
STRENGTHS
- Marking
- Scoreboard impact
- Intercepting
- Versatility
KEY NUMBERS
- 20m sprint: 3.01
- Disposals: 10.0
- Marks: 4.0
- Goals: 1.2 |

Given Gunston is out for 5 months with a severe back injury, we may have dodged a bullet there. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

3-4years from now he nominates he wants to be traded to the bloody cats to play with his brother, sorta seems our luck. |
Cats will be bottom 8 in 3-4 years after a few more retirements... his brother should be requesting a trade to the Pies _________________ https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/sav-sinks-the-dockers/ |

For some odd reason Ned Guy was keen on recruiting Gunston. Hopefully it was Derek Hine who talked him out of it. That would have been a disaster. |

I said before on some other threads that Henry reminds me of McKenna.
Hell he even looks like Peter.
When McKenna was 19 he averaged close to 2 goals a game.
Very similar to Henry this year.
Henry is currently 19 also.
He moves like McKenna and he leads like McKenna.
McKenna had 2 brothers in the Richardson boys who always could hit him on the chest
We also have 2 brothers in the Daicos boys.
Once in the centre they could be better than the Richards boys
McKenna also had Bary Price...what a great kick was he.
I think Henry is a better mark at this earlier stage
But I don't think anyone besides Dunstall was a better timer on the lead than Peter
Really look forward to this kid developing
If he is a half as a good kick as Peter then it will be something to look forward to |

Actually the one he reminds me of is Dermott Brereton because of his sticky hands and ability to mark the ball from the side of packs and appear from nowhere to grab the ball. McKenna wasn’t a good overhead mark. His forte was similar to Dunstall in being able to mark the ball on the lead and never miss within the 50 meter arc. Henry when on song will kick 3.2, 4.2 or 5.1 or just as likely 1.4 when not. McKenna was unique like Dunstall, Lockett and Hudson. He never missed. |

I think that I can count the high marks McKenna took on one hand! However he was fast on the lead and a brilliantly accurate kick for goal. I wonder if anyone has the comparative stats for players marking and kicking for goal, as in the goal to behind ratio list, as McKenna could be at the top. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. ^^^^^^^^^^^
Mckenna kicked 874 goals and 470 behinds in his career.
So close for a 2 to 1 ratio.
Franklin who has won 4 Coleman medals has kicked 1023 goals and 711 behinds a ratio close to 1.5 to 1.
NO stats exist for marks to goals in those early years |

Old time comparisons in modern day footy don'r work that well.
To me he plays like Gunston at the Hawks, 3rd tall marking forward, or Fritch at melbourne. Tall enough and good enough in the air to warrant a good defender, we just need to have other tall targets around him going forward. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
