^ Yes. By acting promptly. This time they have done nothing because sooky people might miss out on party time. Whether it results in a disaster or not, it was a very, very stupid risk to take. It is already the biggest cluster NSW has had in 6 months.

That’s terrible. Shame it wasn’t his leader.

I read he died of a heart attack.

They need to stop saying everyone who dies with COVID has died of COVID.

Congressman-elect Luke Letlow has died of COVID-19.

The 41-year-old contracted the virus on December 18 and was later moved to an intensive care unit in Shreveport, Louisiana, for treatment as his condition worsened.

He “apparently suffered a cardiac event this evening,” and efforts to resuscitate him failed, Dr. G.E. Ghali of LSU Health Shreveport told The New Orleans Advocate. Ghali added that Letlow’s condition, though still critical, had apparently been improving when the cardiac event occurred.

You can pretend that his "cardiac event" was unrelated to his COVID, if you want - but that would be a weird way of looking at things.

No one much actually dies directly "of" a viral infection like COVID - they die from the complications, generally "from" their own body's immune response. We say they died "of" COVID because common sense tells us they almost certainly wouldn't have died in the way they did at the time they did if they didn't have COVID.

This is actually the second time NSW has unleashed a COVID-19 attack on the rest of the country. Remember the Ruby Princess?

Saying that wearing a mask on a bus or not going to a New Year's Eve party "ruins millions of lives" is moronic. I'll tell you what ruins lives. Death ruins lives.

And pretending that it's about "5-10 cases a day" is either very, very stupid or just a deliberate lie.

We have seen how this virus spreads. Fast! Five cases becomes 25 cases becomes 100 cases becomes 1000 cases, all in a matter of days. It has nothing to do with the 5 or 10 cases and everything to do with the thousands of deaths that happen when governments do nothing or take only ineffective action. In the United States - where their weak and disorganised actions are exactly what you keep bawling for - they are now killing a 9/11 World Trade Centre worth of American citizens every day.

Yet that hasn't happened in NSW. They've kept low case numbers.

Like 100 000 Cases a Day?

If that's the case, that's fine. What I read, suggested it was a heart attack, it did not say it was in any way related to COVID, only that he had COVID.

Yet the NSW case they were trying to blame has tested negative whilst Victorians have taken the virus into regional NSW...

NSW seem very well on top of this, all the doom and gloom merchants for weeks have been saying it will grow to hundreds of cases a day but so far, it’s not even close! Only one state loses control of an outbreak that then becomes a second wave that quickly...

Only one? Would that be California, Florida, Texas, New York, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Arizona, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Utah, New Jersey, Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Washington, Colorado, Maryland, Mississippi, Arkansas, Minnesota, Nevada or Connecticut? Those States variously recorded between 31,249 and 2,045 new cases yesterday.

Extremely angry at how long it's taken to close the borders. Would have thought preventing another outbreak was the most important job for the government but Dan seems to take an easy-as-you-go approach, and it's phucking killing me.

Like less than 10 usually, while doing 3-5 times more testing than Vic.

In the last week they've done 171,000 tests and only had more than 10 local cases on one day.

This border closure has nothing to do with health advice unless the advisors are the Marx brothers, it's politically motivated crap by an incompetant bunch of cretins.
