By example, I see both Freo and GWS carry over a deficit of around 260 points each into this draft. I’m not sure but I think that’s heading close to the limit of any carry over. |

Does anyone know if Reef McInnes is indigenous? I and many others had assumed he is, which I also assumed is how he is eligible four our NGA, but I actually saw recently that his mother was born in the Philippines.
Can anyone confirm if he is indiginous as well?
It matters not in his case, he looks like he'd be a great pick up and hopefully we can still land him should we choose to trade our current picks for a top 5. Regardless of his heritage.
More broadly though, we're currently one of only two clubs without an indigenous player. The other is the Bulldogs, who are about to draft Ugle-Hagan.
Given that we probably won't to use many picks beyond our first one or two, if McInnes is not indigenous, we're more than likely about to be the only club without an indigenous player. This is not acceptable for a club with our history.
Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance. |

I don’t think that he is indigenous. It would’ve been mentioned in his bio along with his mother being born in the Phillipines. _________________ - Side By Side - |

I’ve read nothing to suggest he has any indigenous heritage.
However I did here today that endurance is his kryptonite.
Very classy footballer, lots of strengths but needs to work on his tank.
No problem there, if he also had a great tank, then he would go much earlier in the draft anyway. |

Patrick Cripps went later in his draft because he didn't have much endurance... _________________ "You must be a parking ticket, cuz you got fine written all over you" Glen Quagmire |

I was thinking the same thing: Him and Nick Daicos. A lot of expectation. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Talk around that Essendon will use 1 of there Top 10 Picks to Bid on Reef.
Would you be Happy IF we pass him up then? _________________ I am Da Man |

^^^Good question DTM...To me it would feel like we were robbed if we let him go. As long as Essendon have those three picks in front of us its a mystery. So that would mean we would have to spend more points bc Reef was bid at a higher points level.... Hard to say really.
In an ideal world we could pick up 2 quality sliders at 14 and 16 which is a great possibility and then bid for Reef with next opportunity, somehow. _________________ Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero. |

I would be surprised if he gets called out that early, Dave.
That’s the equivalent of saying he’s the fourth or fifth best mid fielder in the country ( after the first four talls are automatically picked in the top 5 / 6 selections ) If anything, a couple Vic kids should slide because they played no footy in 2020. He didn’t play much footy in the midfield in 2019 either because of the mid field talent around him at the Chargers.
I still think the Pies will ( try to ) bundle up 14 and 16 and make sure they get that pick in before he’s called out.
They also reckon the order of top 20 could be all over the place, so there is a chance a lot of picks could be swapped on the night, rather than the weeks leading up to the night.
I’m really looking forward to seeing their strategy play out ... or not. |

I doubt he would go at 8.
Strange things do happen draft time. Its possible a club bids too early just to deny us...but I think he will slip past 16 :
1. He has not had the opportunity to be properly assessed as a midfielder.
2. Lots of other players look good too. KP, Mids etc... He is a good HB with zip and skill..
3. He is very slight.. still unknown how he will develop. Can he compete against mature bodies.?
4. 2020 is impacted by COVID, more than anything, its made it harder to assess players like him.
All things point he will go past first round. He is a good NGA prospect tied to Collingwood...there's a lot of angles /articles and clicks there.
I could be wrong lol. |
