A lot to like about Briskey: promising but could invite trouble.

So, not a recycled player in sight.
They’ve done the right thing. It’s time to reboot the list. |

I agree. I'm quite happy about us not get some recycled player who'd more than than likely just end up being another list clogger. |

Agreed. I'd prefer to see Zabriskie Goal, instead! _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Thanks for that DTM.
I see he is a 194cm Key defender.
Quote: | There are very few key position prospects available in this year’s AFL Draft who can match the raw and powerful athleticism of Jack Briskey. ✓
Able to perform up either end or even as an undersized ruck ✓
gained senior experience with Sherwood in the QAFL✓
Briskey achieved a top 10 result at the recent Draft Combine, leaping 94cm in the running vertical jump✓
His leap is also utilised down back, where he can intercept mark or crash packs – same goes while stationed up the other end.✓
In possession, he is a touch raw in terms of skill and decision making at times✘
While he can certainly pop up with impactful plays, Briskey is not yet the finished product in terms of his sustained output.✘
He averaged just 5.7 disposals, two marks, and nine hit-outs as a bottom-ager for the Lions Academy.✘ |
Sounds like a key shutdown type defender. The Lions have obviously passed on him, which is a worry, but they do have plenty of talls right now. He doesnt seem to get a lot of the ball, but is extremely athletic and has a huge vertical leap. It sounds like his disposal needs work and was projected as a late rookie selection. Sounds like his body is ready for the big hits, but still has losts of work to do to sharpen his ground skills. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Harry O’Brien before he changed his name. He was that keen to play AFL, he drove all the way from WA. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Good evening Mr Neil- I think there was some doubt over Callow's workrate defensively from memory. I have no doubt about his aptitude for the game and truly believe he will be drafted in the mid-season draft.
In terms of Briskey, the mail from Brisbane was that They had "enough of his type" and that the NGA picks they took before him were preferred in terms of list balance.
Given that he would be a speculative pick, he's certainly worth the investment.
The Pies considered Sam Skinner from Brisbane, but I understand he will be nabbed by the Shinboners- I, for one, cannot believe that no-one has grabbed Corey Lyons- we really should acquire him for our VFL squad- Melbourne born lad and ball-magnet. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |
