Why would we consider Jetta? He wouldn't even be in our best 30?
Not suggesting we pick him up but what is the go with Mason Wood? Has a stack of talent but obviously missing somewhere else?

Well we dont want a replay of the Wells situation. So we wont be offering big dollars and lots of years. Has Jetta really lost it tho? Is Matera another option?

Wood fits a need and might be our only option to find a tall forward (192cm).

And theres always Tom Phillips younger brother...

The big Silvagni that Carlton delisted
\Why? He's a key forward and a Silvagni and I'd love to mess with Carlton supporters just by drafting him.

Lewis Jetta would at least being able to kick in from a behind with some level of acumen.

Good article re Mason Wood today.
He could be a handy pick up.

Yes, I concur. I reckon Mason Wood could be a more than useful acquisition to this team. To me he is the best FA option available to meet our needs.

This thread reminds me of many years ago when the local council had a hard rubbish collection. Large skips were deposited in the streets and rubbish was thrown out. Shortly afterwards the scavengers came around sorting through it for something they thought was of value. What they found was only there because it was broken, obsolete or was no good in the first place.

Well in 2012 he had huge wraps on him as a 19 year old.
Maybe an opportunity in a better side will do him good.

I nominate Jacob Townsend.

Not as a RFA, but to be considered as a leader in our young VFL team. Has won a Liston, and played for three AFL clubs. And has played in an AFL and a VFL premiership.

27yo with lots of footy left.

Would be a good inclusion at VFL level.

You're not going to find the next Brownlow medallist on the RFA list. Just someone to fill a role for 12 months, maybe even 2 seasons. Similar to drafting a recycled player with a late pick before RFA was a thing.

It doesn't always happen, but every so often you can find that golden nugget in the trash.

Yep, there's plenty of success stories picking up discards... in recent time, Ricky Henderson and Mitch Robinson have been very good for Hawthorn and Brisbane respectively.

I believe Dylan Robinson became an all-Australian squad member after being picked up as a delisted FA, while Joel Hamling was a major part of Footscray's premiership team.

There's many others out there...

Yes, that possible and very occasionally it does happen.

My guess though is that the results would be better drafting a young kid or someone from one of the state leagues that has missed out before so have never had the opportunity to show what they could do if they were devoted to the sport as a professional. Examples such as Mihocek and Noble come to mind.

I guess the club needs to figure out what we are missing or what we need. The answer could be an RFA or an untried kid, or mature ager that missed out in the past.

Mihocek and Nobel are great examples.

Reckon the Pies could add:

* Lewis Jetta for defensive 50 kick ins
* M Wood for wing/half forward
* C McCarthy for a forward spot

Before the negative police come knocking, we understand that they all come with baggage but with the savage delisting's at 10 currently before the first list lodgement (surely Lynch, Wills and Appleby to come), the national/rookie drafts won't cover all the replenishments required.

The above three maybe surplus, depth or revelations. Low risk and potential upside.
