If the Club is actually guilty as alleged, then we need to face up to the consequences of our actions.

Bagging H doesn't help the situation. Time to admit, learn and move on.

Are you telling Buckley, Sidebottom and Pendlebury to admit, learn and move on, because everyone else has gone?
I am sure that the club and society as a whole has moved on since then. That’s probably not the issue though, as it’s up to H as to whether he moves on. He could have sued at least 6 years ago but didn’t. He played out a guerilla campaign over social media instead. He doesn’t want to move on, this is what he is all about. It’s what drives him. If he runs to trial and wins it will give him a platform to continue. If he loses, of course the legal system will have oppressed him. Most cases settle but that normally includes a confidentiality clause and a mutually agreed public statement. That would be a bitter pill for him to swallow though.

Remember what Leon Davis said
Paul Medhurst was not totally happy about his time at Collingwood
What happened to Robbie Muir was disgraceful and anyone who thinks it would not have happened at Collingwood is naive
McAllister made many racist comments

We all acknowledge the lack of indigenous players at Collingwood
Wonder what the reasons are

to be fair we dont seem to be a destination club full stop, i dont think colour has anything to do with it

I too don't think our history has anything to do with the lack of indigenous players on the list right now. I am pretty sure the Western Bulldogs don't have an indigenous player on their list right now.

Agreed.

If the club is innocent but their name is being dragged through the mud, then the person slinging the mud should be called out for what he is.

In the current woke climate, it is easy to make wild accusations, but even if they are unfounded, the accusations can leave lasting damage to the innocent parties.

^^ Agreed Rudey, but there has been some pushback on that of late. Trial by social media is a horrible thing. Some want JDG sacked and banned from footy, even though we don’t even know what he’s accused of or if he’s even guilty.

The nickname did happen, but stopped when H spoke about it. It feels like nothing was done to address those players involved, though, and it was business as usual. Unfortunately what’s happening is the public will view the club as a bad culture of racism and neglect for all of Eddie’s reign, and also for the foreseeable future (I won’t see the reputation change in my lifetime!). It was reported on BBC and elsewhere overseas without the full story, all people get is the headline — “Collingwood, and everyone associated with the club, is a racist.” H said as much himself, if you’re not actively fighting racism then you condone it, just being “not racist” makes you racist. It’s an extreme view not everyone holds in the BLM movement. Anyway, the AFL and Eddie need to sort this out ASAP and get it done. Honestly, I can’t see any way of out of it in the current climate other than to pay H out and admit more could have been done to address the nickname culprits and assist H (obviously we did, but not yo H’s satisfaction).

He can say it is the club but it’s not really the club. It’s some people within the club that he has an issue with, being those that he claims said whatever it is that he didn’t like. Presumably, that also extends to those that may say they didn’t say it but heard it, because they did nothing about it. He will have to make precise allegations about both categories of former team mates.

The world will be a very lonely place for H. If he ever does attend a premiership reunion, he will be the one in the corner by himself that everyone else avoids like the plague.

He won’t attend a premiership reunion, or any Collingwood function, ever again. He’s made that clear

Ever is a long time.
Don’t accept what someone intends today as what they intend tomorrow.
Are you old enough to remember Australian cricket captain Kim Hughes? Consistently out hooking against the Windies. At a pre test press conference he vowed not to hook any more. Next day the newspaper headline was “Captain Hook” with a picture of him being caught, out playing the hook shot again.

H has recently reported that he is still struggling to get over the death of Muhammed Ali.

Somehow he seems determined to turn the focus of everything back on himself. It's all about him apparently. Hmmmmm.

This ^ is a little quaint.

There is enough already in the public domain from other players who were at the Club at the pertinent times to make it plain that there are no "unfounded" or "wild accusations" being made.

^^^ That’s not really the issue though, is it? The nickname was used and even H said it was only a group of players and it stopped when he spoke about it. Benny Johnson confirmed this. H is aggrieved by Eddie, and by Bucks allegedly saying H threw Eddie under the bus. If there has been ongoing culture of racism at Collingwood, and that’s the issue we’re debating, then there’d be more than H speaking out about it. Especially Leon, Kraks, Varcoe, Wells.

It would have been nice if more than one of the players involved stood up, admitted they used the nickname but stopped when H asked them to. Like Ben Johnson did, to his credit. No one else has though.

The matters that you are saying H is aggrieved about will most likely not be relevant to the court case.
The comments allegedly made by players such as Johnson probably will be.
Not having seen the claim though, it’s hard to be more precise.
