Grundy is being smashed of late.
Beaten badly in the ruck in terms of impact and clearences.
We actually have 4 ruckmen in our side that played Port.
Grundy, Cox. moore and Roughy.
Change it up or keep going down the same path and get the same result. |

Well, it probably won't matter much for this season..... but I have said at least ten times on this forum, that at times, Coxy is a more effective centre bounce ruckman than Brodie, as he can direct the ball down to our players, instead just dropping it to his feet as Brodie tends to do.
Grundy is still probably our best bet at round the ground ball ups.
Don't think Coxy went into the middle at any centre bounce tonight? |

Why, because he takes more marks and kicks more goals than Grundy? |

Cox has now played 67 games for Collingwood. At least 2 of them have been of an acceptable standard. It is time we acknowledged that he’s part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Do what you want with 5he ruck - just don’t embarrass yourselves by pretending that Cox can play first ruck for a competitive AFL team. |

That would be very costly, him having triggered the fourth year of his $550,000 per year contract. |

$550,000 a year, and in contrast Mihocek is being offered pittance _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

I don't know what Mihocek is paid, but presumably much less. |

I don’t have a personal vendetta against Grundy. He seems a nice enough sort of person. I certainly don’t blame him for extracting the best deal from the club that he could. But, he is a ruckman. They are not the most valuable pieces of the puzzle. He gives his all, but he will never be a Peter Moore as he doesn’t have the athleticism or the kicking skills, or a Len Thompson, as he does not have Thommo’s ruck craft. He is good around the ground for a ruckman but his lack of actual rucking skills doesn’t appear to be something the club has addressed. We don’t even have a real ruck coach. How is Grundy to learn? I just don’t understand how the club can have committed so much of the cap to him, given his limitations, both in terms of the position he plays and the deficiencies that he has. I am not aware of any other club doing that for a ruckman.
The reality is that Cox is being played out of position. He is much better suited to being a ruckman than a forward. Whenever he has the opportunity to ruck he immediately marks around the ground & manages to negate the opposition ruckman. I was actually hoping that Grundy would be rested against Port to give Cox the chance to spend most of the game rucking. Buckley wouldn’t have to tell him not to tap the ball to the opposing ruckman either. |

Play Cox in ruck against Nic Nat and Grundy as the forward.
Grundy can’t jump to contest center bounces effectively. Cox needs to finally earn some of the coin he’s on.
Paying half a mill for one good game against Gold Coast is a shit return.

Whoever taught him to tap the ball at his feet should be shot. That goal assist to Charlie Dixon was gold and we’d be laughing our heads off if the shoe was on the other foot. Smack the ball toward the boundary line, no guarantee it goes to a Pies player but make it harder for them to score. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
