Australia won comfortably, by 19 runs. They made 9/294 (Stoinis 43 from 34; Mitch Marsh 73 from 100 and Maxy 77 from 59). England replied with 9/275 (Hazlewood 3/26 and MOTM for ruining the game as a contest; Zampa 4/55). Billings made 118 from 110 for them but England were never up with the chase after Australia had them 4/57.

Yep good to chalk up a win and good to see maxy getting some much needed runs too. Plus well backed up in the field and very good bowling too.

Got the Aussies to beat england again tomorrow and take out the series.

A win tomorrow moves us up to third on the odi rankings.

We are heading in the right direction i feel and i feel we will number 1 in all forms of cricket t20,odi and tests in a years time. i could said that 3 years ago when i felt we were at our lowest ebb and around the sand paper saga.

Still a bit to go will be good if we could move on from smith, warner etc.... and blood some young talent.

The rankings are not based on series wins either but on matches won.

What are we now -- 5th? For a moment, I forgot exactly how awful our ODI team is.

ODI is the weak link for the aussies weve improved alot in the t20 format but struggle in ODI good to see number 1 in test.

Test is best.

Another monumental stuffup from Oz.

But least the scores were "low" (meaning high by 80s standards). ODIs are far better with low scores.

Oz lost 7/32. Shocked

I guess I should restrict the "Batting is a dying art" thread to Test batting and not add this result there...

We didn't select the middle order - he sat out for the second game in a row. This is what happens, I suppose.

This is what happens whoever plays. This is no one-off. Look at the T20s that just finished.

Perhaps you should look at the T20s.

The Aussies are rated #1, in the World.

I'm not talking about wins and losses. I'm talking about collapses after Finch and partner get out.

Part of the problem (as Deano said) is that Langer and co. don't seem to get that slogathon batting positions are specialist spots. Batting at 1 is not the same as at 4 and 4 is not the same as at 6.
