Firstly. THE ONLY reason collingwood would bring in Ben Brown is if they are sure we are in the window for a premership inside the next 2 years. His age will not allow for any form of rebuild....increasingly i think this is where we are heading...our midfield mix is not right...Treloar get the ball but his disposal far too often is poor.
Secondly, detractors at north complain that he is only a lead up forward. not a stand your ground clunk the mark forward. This is a worry....our foot skills out of the middle are simply not good enough to accommodate this style of forward. This also takes away from our small forward talent...if Brown can't bring it to ground..well we are not better off.
For my mind, bringing him in has disaster spelled all over it. go for a younger player who has a season or two to learn with the team.
Peter Wright all the way i say....we should be dealing with Gold Coast now on it. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Seriously, spend a bit more money on a younger player with more in his tank. Going for the bargains who might be stars again with a little TLC bites you in the ass eventually, just ask Hawthorn.
Who do we really want? Who would love to play for us? Just effing go for them. |

Using the same rationale, I say bring him in if the club thinks they can have a tilt at the flag over the next two years. Also if this happens, we will be able to send off Pendles with a premiership. It might be an amazing turn of events based on this one act of recruitment genius. I say go for it and see what happens. Take a calculated risk. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. I see those most against Brown initially, are now warming too him, i guess they realise finally, after the last few games, our forward line is a potent as a burnt crumpet, and bout as bloody useful. Get Brown. ! _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I'd have Gunston before Brown. Gunston can take a pack mark. Brown is a leading mark. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

He has the injury profile our club is addicted to.

You obviously read what's posted rather selectively. That's not what I take from reading the thread at all.
Perhaps you might deal with the objective facts. In particular, despite your recollection that he put us to the sword 2 years back, he actually kicked 0.4 in the pertinent game (actually last year at Docklands) and has kicked just 4.9 in 5 career outings against Collingwood. What that you have seen actually makes him a desirable trade acquisition? |

My best memory of Jack Watts was Swanny taking a mark over him in the goal square and then Swanny mocking him. |

I was there that day and sitting in a perfect spot to see it all unfold. First the pompus members and Melbourne supporters provided a sickengly polite round of applause as the prized first pick in the draft came off the bench and on to the ground like the great blonde hope. Then whammo! _________________ The beatings will continue until moral improves. |
