I wouldn;t bank on Merrett being out. If I was the dopers I would challenge the one match suspension. Sook Silvagni took a hit that Tukky my poodle wouldn,t wincw at.

After the bitter disappointment of the loss to the Giants we should be in a right bad mood for this game, utterly ruthless. This is a must win, to get back on track, we can win, and will win, Dons not in our class, we should win pretty well, really. Woods by 23 points, lock it in.

I see that the consequence of the reportable action is taken into account rather than the action itself. Do posters at Nicks agree with this?

I fully get it that "attempted striking" is different to "striking". However shouldn't the "intention" of striking be reportable regardless of the consequences?

^ absolutely it should, Laz. A couple of weeks ago Burgoyne slam tackled Dangerfield, and it was only luck that Dangerfield wasn't concussed. I think Burgoyne copped a fine but he should have been rubbed out for a week or two.
If the AFL is serious about changing player behaviour then it needs to treat "attempted" striking the same as striking.

AFL flip flops on this all the time to suit their agenda and also to manufacturer an intended outcome.

Rocca 2003 - elbow to Lade face (no injury) - suspended for the action not the outcome
Ablett - Elbow charge while jumping in the air - cleared because contact was insufficient force to constituted a reportable offence.

The AFL should just stick with assessing outcome...as its much harder to assess intent. Was Burgoyne intent to hurt Dangerfield in a sling tackle or just to execute a strong tackle? Hard to say....but outcome is easier to assess....Dangerfield was not injured.

just watched it, he hits long after the ball is gone, and he punches his back with a fist, thats a week, it was not even in play, the ball was gone. but knowing the cheating AFL he will get a medal.

In : manic tackling pressure.
Out : hysterical posters. A draw and a 2 point loss to last years Grand Finalists, sky hasn't fallen in just yet...

Changes
In: Treloar, Dunn
Out: Phillips, Howe

Treloar a welcome return for his carry and line breaks.
Phillips is a plodder who lacks tricks and disposal efficiency, I feel he's getting further exposed as a result of the shorter quarters.
Reposition Moore in an effort to fill the rebound void Howe will leave in the D50.

FORWARDS
Same as last week, the inclusion of Stephenson benefited the team balance. He looked in good touch during the first half, his pace has been sorely missed. Still only going at 65%, doesn't have the spark in his eyes just yet.
Elliott is a weak link on his current output. Another week of the same and Thomas will be back in.
Must have Sidey on the HFF delivering the ball into F50.

HFF : Stephenson Mihocek Sidebottom
F : JDG Cox Elliott

CENTRES
Adding Treloar back into the mix as a ball carrier will allow Sidey to float around the high half-forward line where in my opinion he is at his most dangerous.
Wills is still an important player for the style of game the competition now endures, contested grinds.

C : Daicos Pendlebury WHE
Rucks : Grundy Adams Wills

DEFENCE
Opposition scores -
Round 20 2019 vs Gold Coast = 51 W
Round 21 2019 vs Melbourne = 53 W
Round 22 2019 vs Adelaide = 48 W
Round 23 2019 vs Essendon = 65 W
QF 2019 vs Geelong = 51 W
PF 2019 vs GWS = 56 L
Round 1 2020 vs Western Bulldogs = 34 W
Round 2 2020 vs Richmond = 36 D
Round 3 2020 vs St Kilda = 37 W
Round 4 2020 vs GWS = 66 L

Our defensive Talisman Howe, likely out 'til this time next year. Langdon hasn’t played since Round 9 2019 and the core back 6 will need to find someone to provide a similar role.
I just don't see Shaz as having that impact. Murphy is a chance, similar measurements is about all you could really offer by way of comparision.
I'm wondering if Dunn can come in and play FB and Roughead goes to CHB leaving Moore as the intercept player.

B : Crisp Dunn Moore
HBF : Maynard Roughead Noble

INT : Treloar Mayne C Brown T Brown

Pies to issue a response and crush the Bombers by 47. JDG to go bananas.

Not an easy week to pick but I don't think CB will be out - beat Tyler in every stat.
Treloar should come in and Howe needs to be replaced but they have far too different roles. There were a lot of players that were quiet on Friday but it might be they were simply well held. Tough calls - would have liked to see the seconds - need some lateral thinking and straight shooting.
