Skids hasn't been banned and hasn't had his profile removed (not sure what gave you that idea, Wokko – all you need to do is search by author and then click on the username), but he is taking a short break for reasons that are between him and the moderating team. We usually wouldn't broadcast such things, but I hope that helps allay anyone's concerns about his wellbeing.

I can find his posts through search and click his profile name, but he's not in the Memberlist.

Potato - Potahto. Hasn't been banned, taking a break at request of the Mods.

He has had time to read Nicks and message me via Facebook with comments on things, I don't think over work was the problem.

Oh I thought you had to get yellow thingys before eventually getting a red Confused

Pleased it is not something personal/health for him or the family though.

Ah, fair enough. No idea why that is, sorry.

*shrug* if you say so. If he had been banned – and yes, as regrettable as it is, it does happen to posters on here from time to time – we wouldn't exactly be broadcasting that either. I think it's more likely than not that he'll be back.

Look, without being a backseat Mod, my understanding was the yellow and red card system was there for a reason. Posters would get a couple of warnings (yellows) before being banned (red) all of which was transparent and visible to others.

shadow banning people in the background strikes me as similar to how people disappear in China when they persist in doing stuff the authorities don't like. No trial, no transparency, just disappear.

He may come back if he has that option, he may not. That's up to him I suppose, my understanding is he believes he's been banned permanently.

Can’t see what he could possibly say to shut him out with no warnings.

I read so much worse here than what I apparently got a yellow for. buggered if I know where the line is.

*Just to flag now, this convo is going to be moved to the General Feedback forum in a bit as it’s not really appropriate for the VPT*

The yellow/red card system is the standard disciplinary process, but we’ve always reserved the possibility of a suspension or ban regardless where necessary because, for instance, sometimes things require swifter action; in any case, we will always communicate the reason for such decisions with the member in question. Just because you don’t see the reason doesn’t mean there wasn’t one – indeed, posts that flagrantly break rules will often be quickly moderated and/or moved out of view.

It may not seem like a very transparent system, but that’s the way it’s always been for as long as any of us have been here. Plenty of posters have been given the boot over the years and far from all had a red card to show for it. And generally such matters are not publicly broadcast, as much as I understand we all love goss.

If you don’t see how those two things are different, then it sounds like we’re arguing over semantics.

We didn't ban him, we banned him. The difference is clear.

Gees another comment I i made gets it’s own thread!

Well I’m $%$ed if I can figure out the rules right now.

Just imagine if all the $$%^%%$ sarcasm and abuse stopped, just imagine if you could actually defend yourself, maybe the conversation might be more pleasant and people wouldn’t choose to leave or mysteriously disappear,

It actually is possible to give your opinion without belittling those with a different opinion.

Nobody chooses to "mysteriously disappear", TP. They don’t call us the "sinister bastards" for nothing! Razz
