Interesting question no doubt.

In years past I would have been lynched for being so sacrilegious. Nowadays I'm not so sure.

What do you all think?

What is the role of the president?

If it dosen't have anything to do with the football department then I can't really see a problem keeping him. The club is doing well financially which I thought would be his role.

I think Ed oversteps his role a bit though, I barely even know a handfull of other club presidents.

So to contradict myself, maybe it might be time for Ed to go.

A good president is one who presents as a genuine deep-forward threat because they're capable of kicking 5 goals in an important final.

The role of the Prsident is to act as Chair of the Board. In theory, he is first among equal on the Board, with the responsibility to ensure that the Board's agenda is prepared and regular meetings are held, and that the discussion at the Board is open and relevant to the agenda. Usually the Chairman will also summarise the disucissin, including points for an against a proposal, and he have a casting vote if the rest of the Board are unable to agree. If the Board vote to remove a senior executive of the club, then the .Chairman will be the one to tell the individual (usually with the HR or Legal Director in tow).

Ultimately, the Board as a whole is accountable for the successful performance of the Club, in terms of financial and on-field performance within the relevant laws.

McGuire is arguably too powerful by virtue of his public persona and his long tenure, and I suspect the other Board members feel beholden to him. Given the performance of the club since 2011, I do think it is time for Eddie to stand aside, having done a very creditable job across the last twenty years.

I don't understand this thinking. A lot of other presidents are invisible, therefore that must be preferable? For mine Ed having a big public profile is nothing but good news for Collingwood. Sure people from other clubs bitch about him and exaggerate the smallest of transgressions, but that's because his high profile annoys the crap out of them.

Good.

Ed remains my choice as leader of Collingwood because I'm sure he is passionate in pursuing what is best for Collingwood and will do what's best for Collingwood in all situations.
If not for Ed there may not be a Collingwood as we know it today as the biggest sporting club in Australia. Until someone better is available I'll stick with Ed.

I'm open to see someone challenge for the position. But who would/can do it?

Trying to get updates on the VFL game between us and Werribee at Wangarratta.
No live audio or video feed for this event.
Rely on Twitter and flashscores for vfl.
Members and supporters get nothing!
Why, because there is no money from a corporate point of view in giving us this service.
So I wonder what is happening at the corporate social club today?
Are the social club members watching the big game there tonite.
Would have been great to have a live feed on the big screen of the VFL and then the big game from Spotless Stadium.

I did not vote, but the facts is, as I have said adinfinitum, if NO body challenges him, not one person put their hand up prior to the AGM, not bloody one, not Kelly, not some top end business person, man or woman, no ex politician, no trade unionist, intellectual, scientist, media person, no one, zilch, had the balls to challenge Eddie. !! So, on that basis, lets stop the pissing and moaning, he has the job, no one had the guts to take it off him, so accept it.

No Social Club
A complete focus on corporate values
Traditions sold out
Victoria Park gone
Worst last five years in living memory
Nothing for the struggling working class fan who can't afford fancy corporate style dinners
Staggered Board elections to prevent a true change of culture
AGM's more of a circus than a real opportunity to drill into performance issues
Fans taken for granted

My vote is obvious
