We missed the grand final last year by a kick and suddenly walls are caving in. Give me a spell. |
No question we have had injuries and a bad run...but we have had that every year...ad stilled managed to play well. This year we have been beaten by sides who were just as injured. Freo had thier WAFL side on the park and we still couldn't beat them. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Maybe the interchange steward can hold that up as a sign rather than the time remaining. |

Which poses the eternal question in football.
Does the game plan dictate the playing list or does the playing list dictate the game plan ?? |
Well someone once said “show me a great team and I’ll show you a great coach”. So imo show me a great team that can make full use of the game plan and I’ll show you a great team. |
A great coach will make adjustments, when something is not working, change something, anything, if Your going to lose by 15, lose by 30 with something different, at least you will learn something. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is just dumb. Ie, the backs do a brilliant save, they get it to the edge of the oppositions arc, it then gets kicked back to the oppositions goal, across the front to ensure the worst heart outcome possible for the supporters who know one fumble will kill us, then kick to a contest and pray, let’s say the prayer is answered, handball 85 times till it’s near our arc, and then kick the **** out of the leather to an opposition player. Aaaannnnndddd repeat. On the odd occasion we score a miracle goal that doesn’t go to review, which we never ever get to our favour, celebrate like you’ve won the GF, take the ball back to the centre and watch the other team score in 26 sec flat.
Yes that’s working for us.
That article is spot on. Even the digs. Spot. On. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

That article is spot on. All of it. Even the Sidey dig. It points to professionalism. Or the lack of it. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

You-d be surprised how good our coach and game plan would look if our players hit their targets and took their chances in front of goal. _________________ The beatings will continue until moral improves. |

It's chicken and egg, though, isn't it? The guys who consistently can't hit targets and take their chances in front of goal are all recruited under the present coach. |

@ Pies4shaw - hypothetical - if for some reason right now we were actually looking for a new coach, apart from Clarkson, who would you recommend that was actually obtainable..? _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

I’ve stopped putting effort into that question, for the time being, because it seems it isn’t going to be a possibility until at least the end of next season. I had previously expressed the view that Ratten or Longmuir might be offered the position but they have both been been taken. One expects the administration to have a reasonable handle on what the viable alternatives are. It isn’t as if we might advertise the job but no-one will apply. The Club can attract the best coaching talent in the country, any time it chooses to go to market. |

^^^ This.
We have so many doomsayers that have no perspective - its just absurd, how easily they dump on the club, coach or President. |
