Throw out the US Consitution too then. I think it's one of the great ironies of life that Thomas Jefferson, who is credited with writing the line about self evident truth that all men are created equal was a slave owner. That's the problem when we start looking at the past through the lens of the future.
I was googling something and this came up in the search, I thought it's quite a good balanced read.

Quote: | The United States of America was born in a state of profound hypocrisy; freedom and oppression were twin bedfellows from the start, nursed in the very households of iconic Founding Fathers like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. At the heart of this hypocrisy, of course, was race, and nothing—not Civil War, slavery’s abolition, constitutional amendments, or civil rights legislation—has made the issue go away. And 244 years later, with another July Fourth upon us, Americans are still struggling over this moral conundrum by protesting in large numbers in the streets—most recently in response to the flagrant killing of a helpless Black man under the knee of a white Minneapolis police officer—with no obvious resolution in sight. |

Long before SSB became the US national anthem, back in the 1830s the abolitionists were pointing out the hypocrisy in the song.
What’s wrong with Sousa’s Liberty Bell March? - that’s a good tune and has the advantage if making us lose the plot laughing when we hear it. Here’s a piano tutorial - let’s turn this into a movement:

I love the star spangled banner, and imagine, imagine should be a world anthem.
And yes it will be entertaining! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

It says a lot about the quality of the existing anthem (unmitigated puke that it is) that people would even contemplate replacing it with a bad pop song.
It should be Free Bird. |

Not a Beatles ong. Lennon solo. Ironically he was killed in the USA thanks to idiotic gun laws. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Replacing an anthem written by a slave-owner with one written by a serial wife-beater would be, if nothing else, an amusing development. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
