It still fails on so many levels are great artists (Madonna and Phil Collins) failed to make the Top 200. Madonna is an icon and brilliant performer, and Phil is a talented singer and musician.
Hell, they put Billie Eilish in. I can't imagine any metric where Eilish is better than Dion. |

Must be the same clowns that put the VFL / AFL team of the Century together.
No arguments on Aretha at no.1 though, if any doubts, just take a moment to listen to her crush this, late in her life when riddled with cancer. Gives me chills.
Nearly up there with her performance in the Soul Food Diner...

And WTF indeed on Beyonce?!! She's far from a singers, singer. More a over-produced performer. How she is in ahead of the likes of Streisand, Rondstadt beggars belief.
Where's Jeff Lynne? Al Green?

If it's about "Singer" as an artist, Dylan craps on Dion from a great height. | nope no nada!
Celline Dions range is simply outstanding and amazing, saw her live in Vegas, just brilliant
Dylan is like the great and bested Jimmy Barnes but a different key! Love a raspy voice!
I’ll always love Whitney!
Guys, for me Elvis, Phil Collins, Jimmy Barnes, kenny Rogers, the rhinestone cowboy and anything angels, AC/DC
Songs that make me stop ; imagine, we are the champions, I will always love you, the greatest love of all. Still and she’s thinks his name was John by Reba McIntire, suspicious minds, flame trees, born in the USA, pretty much all Phil Collins! 2 out of three ain’t bad, Joey - concrete blonde, all I wanna do is make love to you, easy - the oak ridge boys _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

The outcry over Perrottet dressing up as a nazi 20 years ago when he was 21 years old! Who among us can say we have no skeletons at all from that age frame! Who $$%^%%$ cares? Aside from him being at the dumbass age, things were far different then, I’m not sure sinsof the past should get airing when laws, moral or otherwise, change after all that time. He didn’t physically hurt anyone. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

I never said it was acceptable, I hate the word and anything yo do with it, however, I have a couple of memories from being around that age I’ll never tell!
He was a dickhead, no one got hurt. He said sorry. I’m sure there’s more pressing issues. Gangs of kids rampaging. Lack of housing. Inflation. Covid, for me a 20 year old dickhead make story is meh! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Oh and probably Sam Cooke - these "listmakers" always value a high tenor voice that sang gospel in the early days, so I'll take him at 9, if I may. |

Now I've looked at the list, here's the ones who appear in it and who can (could) actually sing (I'm not picking people for their music or because I like them, just their vocal ability, so many I love - like Mick Jagger - simply have no place in a fairly-appraised list and some I can't bear - like Ariana Grande - obviously belong):
Fela Kuti
Bonnie Raitt
Alicia Keys
Solomon Burke
Bob Seger
Ronnie James Dio
Sandy Denny
Dion DiMucci
Martha Reeves
Bryan Ferry
Darlene Love
Christina Aguilera
Rob Halford
Karen Carpenter
Jackie Wilson
John Fogerty
Taylor Swift
Chuck Berry
Roger Daltrey
Clyde McPhatter
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Celia Cruz
Diana Ross
Lata Mangeshkar
Janis
Wilson Pickett
Muddy Waters (down at number 72? - they are joking)
Orbison
Youssou N'Dour
Robert Plant (despite that falsetto)
Kate Bush
Howlin' Wolf
Miriam Makeba
Joni Mitchell
Rod Stewart
Linda Ronstadt
Mavis Staples
Ella Fitzgerald
James Brown
Ariana Grande
Etta James
Dusty Springfield
Bessie Smith
Chaka Khan
Mahalia Jackson
Dolly Parton
Paul (26? - he must be English to be this low)
Smokey Robinson
Marvin Gaye
Elvis
Patsy Cline
John
Richard W Penniman
Otis
Beyonce
Stevie Wonder
Uncle Ray
Billie Holiday (despite her range being slightly under an octave)
Sam Cooke
Aretha.
At a quick count, that's about 1 who could actually sing a melody without auto-tune out of every 3 on their list.
My personal favourite, Lou Reed, of course has no place in such a list whatsoever - he's a god but the man couldn't sing. That didn't detract from his music at all - but let's not pretend that he could even barely hold a note.
Singers who should obviously have made a top 200 list include (putting aside classical singers like Del Monaco et al) Donovan Leitch, Greg Lake, John Wetton, Dave Davies, Bruce Dickinson, Justin Hayward (seriously, how do you sing "Night in White Satin" and not get into the top 200?), Jacqui McShee, Dick Gaughan (the best voice of the 20th century) and, most of all, Graham Nash, Steve Marriott and Steve Winwood. Obviously, in a Rolling Stone list, it helps to be American. Amongst Americans, the screaming omissions include Joachim Krauledat (aka "John Kay" of Steppenwolf fame) (but being born in Russia and growing up in East Germany probably counted against him) and, of course, Art Garfunkel and Bobby Hatfield. When those sorts of names are left out of the list, the omission of Celine Dion is something less than a mere misdemeanour. |

The genre would count against him but Bruce Dickinson has one hell of a voice.
And I agree with TP. hands up anyone who didn't do something stupid when they were 21 that that would never do now. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

^ Well, yes - people did plenty of thing they thought were "funny" 20 years ago that they would never do, now. It's a sideshow, unless he defends it or is shown to have actual Nazi sympathies. Tasteless, yes; election issue, no way. |

Became ok when you added Sam Cooke, however no Ella is a major problem.
Ken Boothe & Dennis Brown should also be there. George Jones, too. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

253kmh, that's fkn flying.
The Redline could probably go past that, but I've only taken her to 170. That was fast enough for me. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

We caught a taxi in Abu Dhabi that was pushing 150 km/h at times (the actual speed limit was 120 km/h). Quite happy to stay below that in future! _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
