Got the Grandson over, he loves riding his bike up and down the dead end street, into the park and back, so I pulled out some 70's (possibly earlier) technology. Attaching playing cards to the frame so they clip the spokes as the wheels turn. Makes it (sorta) sound like a motorbike. faster you ride, the louder it gets.

He loved it. Very Happy Hooned up and down the street at full tilt for 30 minutes in between practicing getting up on the back pegs and doing skids.

He'll sleep well tonight. Wink

Well done Stui, it is nice to be wanted!

So, in 2020 I entered my first photography competition, the Australian photographer of the year awards! Go big or go home! Just 1 pic, taken during lockdown near Altona pier I called isolation. I got a commended award which is top 75 in the landscape category. This year I entered again, 3 shots of yellow tailed black cockatoos fighting over a walnut in our tree, into the animal and nature category, and today I found out I got highly commended, 1 level up from last time, top 50! So wrapped. It was the first weekend I shot with the mirrorless R6mkii! Go me!

Awesome work TP, congratulations

That's awesome, TP! It's been a real buzz watching you build something special with your photography. It really is one of the great interests and specialisations to take up.

Just saw your post. Brilliant, and from memory incredibly effective! Glad he enjoyed it.

Cheers, he loved it. Then we took it up a notch using a plastic soft drink bottle, an old credit card and some cable ties, the bottle amplified the sound so he had people in the park turning heads going WTF?

Cool.

I remember using bits of cardboard or old playing cards on our bikes when we were kids. There were heaps of kids in our street, so it made a heap of racket when we were all riding around Laughing

Laughing That takes me back. We also used to use playing cards. I'm intrigued by your use of the plastic bottle. I can't picture how you rigged this up. Did you have the mouth of the bottle near the card. And did you cut the bottom out of the bottle?

Cut the neck of the bottle, right at the bottom of the thread where it's thick, nearly half way through and slot the card in there. I tried glue to hold it there but ended up drilling some holes and using a cable tie to hold it.

Cut the bottom out of the bottle and fasten in all on so the spokes hit the card, the card is vibrating in the neck of the bottle and the sound is amplified.

^ Love it.
Its one of those things that he'll always remember. I can picture him doing the same for his grandkids in 60 years time.
