Left and right turn arrows are a gyp and the whole thing is revenue raising. Cars have never been safer or faster yet speed limits keep coming down.

More people and cars on the road. Deaths per km driven have decreased over the past 40 years.
Revenue raisers only focus on the raw unadjusted numbers to justify more ways raise revenue.
Today we drive looking more at the speedo than the road.

Shame the Victorian government doesn’t apply the same standards to increasing their employees wages…

Big difference in fines in WA.

9-19 over limit = $200...2 demerits.
20-29 over = $400.... 3 demerits.
30 - 40 over = $800... 6 demerits.
40+ over = $1600.... 7 demerits.

No seat belt = $550... 4 demerits.
Red Light = $300.. 3 demerits. This should be more severe IMO.

Holding/touching phone to make a call = $500... 3 demerits.
Text, social media, email on phone = $1000... 4 demerits.

Fines & demerits are doubled on public holiday/long weekends and for an extended period over xmas/new year.

I haven't had a fine for years.... pretty simple really.

Jesus, much more sensible than $240 and 1 point.

In Heidelberg they dropped the limit on a main road to 40kmh for some reason, maybe cos it goes past shops, and put in a fixed speed camera. So doing 44kmh in what used to be a 60 zone will cost a point and $240.

One thing that's always made me laugh is, we have 40km/h zones around schools... where 5yo's are crossing the road. On mine-sites they have 10km/h zones where you would have to be drunk and blindfolded to be a hazard.

I remember one safety squeezer on the DeGrussa site had this ingenious idea of putting up 19km/h signs in certain areas. Catching drivers awareness was his reasoning. It cost a small fortune to have 6 of the signs made.

Common sense ceased being common a long, long time ago.

Now that's just criminal, nothing more, nothing less. Cars speedos are allowed to be out by 10% +/- .

The Australian Design Rules require that a vehicle's speedo must not indicate a speed less than the vehicle's true speed or a speed greater than the vehicle's true speed by an amount more than 10 per cent plus 4 km/h

Motorists should have their speedo calibrated to ensure it is as accurate as is reasonably possible.
Up until July 2006 the Australian Design Rules required new cars to have speedos that are accurate to within 10% of actual speed.
The current Rules disallow under-reading and permit over-reading by up to 4kmh + 10%.
