Post subject: No more of Moore and/or does De Goey go?
|
I hope that we can re-sign both of Moore and De Goey. But let's say we can only keep one of them? Who should that be?
There's a lot to be said for choosing Moore. He's a good mark, has pace and is an attacking tall defender. They're not easy to find. You could build a whole backline around him. He has had his fair share of injuries. Think how much we missed him in 2018!
For me, if I had to choose I'd go with De Goey. He's the next Dustin Martin. He's almost at that level now. He's a genuine match-winner. Think of the 3 goals he kicked in the 2018 Grand Final. First, that goal from the members' boundary line dodging around 3 eagles, then that snap in the second quarter
from beyond the 50 metre line, then that goal in the last quarter from a long way out. As important as Darcy is, I'd go with Jordy.

Yeh like Reid and Sidebottom may retire, maybe Mayne too, and a few fringe players will move on, its inevitable, will happen. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Dunn and Reid are probably the most likely to retire at seasons end.
Mayne will go round again, but his contract is up. So it'll be a lesser deal.
At 31, Greenwood will be one to watch. If he comes back good or not? Varcoe is 32 but we'll see how his season goes too.
Sidebottom is still only 29. Has a few seasons left yet.
And of course there is the whole Beams thing. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

if we are unable to keep both of them, i'm pretty sure the entire football department will be fired.
By the way, for all the bad luck we've had with our use of top ten picks during that 3-4 year period when we had them, we got the De Goey and Moore tandem pretty spot on! Is there anyone better in the entire 2014 draft class than the two of them (Heeney maybe the only one that comes close)? Considering we also got Maynard, Crisp and Greenwood in the same year, what a phenomenal effort by the club that year.
what a shame every year after that has pretty much sucked balls! We did get Treloar and Howe in 2015 which hasn't been too bad i suppose! _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

No one is prepared to choose. I hope we don't have to choose and they both stay, but it won't be easy. |

If I had to choose one to stay, it would be De Goey.
Ideally, we would want to keep both if it's possible. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

It has to be both of them
Darcy showed great signs last season, his finals series was brilliant.
JDG is a match winner so that's also a no brainer to keep him.
I'd say there are a few at risk of not getting another season or going to be on reduced contracts:
- Varcoe, Reid, Dunn, Mayne, Greenwood, Thomas
We need to also sign Stevenson as his contract expires end of this year. |

We would be prudent to examine players who due to age and injury before or now happening to trim off so money can be available
