Great to have a distraction from what's transpiring. The changing forward line will open up a few teams this year. Different players going forward and midfield will cause headaches. Despite looking at the quality up forward and the midfield , I can clearly see a dominant backline and whilst Rance was the talk a few years back, there's a fit Darcy Moore who will take over that mantle. It's Round 1 and we controlled 90% of the game against an average opposition and in saying that it was a solid win.

Tyler Brown has been rated highly for a long time in the football world, we all got to see why. There may have been no crowd there last night but I am sure we all were pump when it was Tyler to Callum and a Goal.

You're mad. There is NO way there are 3 changes to a team that wins by 50+ points and has no injuries.

I think that’s why he said “eventual”. As it happens, Grundy, Pendlebury, Howe and Sidebottom are amongst my “eventual” changes - but I’m happy enough to let them go around for a few years, yet.

I would like to see a centre bounce contest

Of cox as ruckman
Grundy
Adams
Treloar

The amount of times Grundy gets his hands on the ball and gives it off
Is ridiculous

He is strong beast and love to see him smash these midfielders about

No player regardless of team success—if they are playing good footy or what
wants to be “rested” but with so many spare due to magoo not playing it’s bound to happen
How else can players get some match fitness if needed to replace injuries / suspension or a personal problem from that victorious side

Be a juggling act 4 sure

Swoop, you are sounding as unbalanced about Jaidyn as P4S is about Grundy.

That's unfair. I try really hard not to understate just how good Thor is. I'll take the comment on board, though, and try to reflect the magnificence of The Greatest Ruckman of All Time more clearly in future.

and even the commentators, who are loathe to say anything pro Collingwood, said he is probably the best player in the competition right now! shame he hooked one! they would have been in tears of denial!
...

No, the commentators and journos and non-Pie players pretty much all refuse to choose between Grundy and Gawn... and that's just restricting the question to who is the best ruckman now. What about non-ruckmen?

He missed at least two sitters, which is unfortunate, but so too did JdG. He's far from alone in the bad-kick-for-goal group.

Our defence was stellar. Was expecting a letdown after Longmuir left, looks like we are in good, if not better, hands.

They look very connected as a team. Post match song a real sign of that. Much more joy and spontaneity evident. NBs post match comments about the pre season focus of improving the connection between our ruck work to team mates was very evident out there all night. Winning clearances from the middle is one thing we could not do better than yhe opposition in recent years and this put us on the back foot. Part of building from their last 2 finals losses where getting nullified in the ruck played a huge part. More preparedness to drive it long into the forward line if a spot up target was not obvious another big plus.

I was the same Cam
I watched the game again and we don’t have a back 6
We have a back 9
Let me explain
When the few times the dogs actually got some momentum and got the ball into our defence Pendles Sidey & Mayne all switched into defensive roles and gave our defenders support and a target to hit who could then use the ball well
They filled space offered direction and stoped the dogs getting a easy look at goal
It’s no coincidence in my mind that our most experienced 3 players all played this role
Likewise in our forward line when Pendles and Sidey we’re deployed there it was when we weren’t taking advantage of our opportunities
Sidey was noticeable in giving direction to the forwards obviously following a preset direction from the coach
These 3 are fast becoming on field coaches in the same vein Hodge Mitchell Lewis did at the hawks
It frees up the younger players just to play with a free mind

Qld a savvy observation and the point of getting first use from ball ups and corridor attack was obvious and a plus
With Sidey and Mayne or Pendlebury out on flanks as ball came out were the security if corridor had opponents block it —-a swing of direction to these guys

We will see how 2020 model works against a good side next week

Grundy's Forward Work vs Dogs don't get a Mention but I thought it was worth Mentioning as he looked like someone who could Kick 1-2 Goals a Game.

Adds another String to Grundy's Bow

I agree DTM. Grundy even kicks as straight as a traditional Collingwood forward line player.

I see power on top of ladder surely Collingwood should be as they had a bigger margin
