I really detest Collingwood's bland, corporate website and Twitter feed. There is nothing distinctive about them (I assume all clubs have agreed that the AFL will design the sites and write all the material). It is such a missed opportunity to genuinely communicate with fans. I suppose this is the 21st century equivalent of what the League did with banners and run-throughs: making something which, though patchy, was original and often funny into a boring, standardised waste of time and space.

Totally agree. Surely every club should be able to individualise their on line stuff and demonstrate their creativity and innovation.

Yep. You can trace it back to when Telstra bought up all the club sites (although it’s likely they all would have ultimately homogenised anyway) – before then they all had a distinctive character. Now the difference between Collingwoodfc.com.au and afl.com.au is like the difference between The Age, Brisbane Times and Sydney Morning Herald websites: same content with a different colour filter overlaid.

Yep, +1 with the comments above.
I find that what were once daily visits to the club website for me have now become quite a few days apart.

Outside of getting teams and Match Reports there is no real reason to get on the Site

Just look at North Melbourne's

They have the Best Media team by a Country Mile
