Why wouldn’t he !!

The lure of Premiership skipper would be important

To say this is excellent news would be a bit of an under-statement! Wink Smile

One club players, especially those of the calibre of Pendles are such a rarity these days and the new contract makes that more likely. The loyalty inherent in this is something I hugely admire.

How many young recruits have you heard note his professional approach to the game
His loyalty must inspire a few to emulate him

Reported that he has taken a pay cut in the contract to allow some room for the likes of De Goey and Moore to get better contracts

Correct.
The amount of energy and distraction during that time of negotiations is a blight to the game and the player involved.

Yes that report of taking pay cut mentioned—-truely an excellent club man

After signing he expressed his confidence in the player group at Collingwood

Million-dollar men: Nine AFL players topped $1 million mark last year

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/million-dollar-men-nine-afl-players-in-the-1-million-mark-last-year-20200218-p541zx.html

"Collingwood's skipper Scott Pendlebury, like Selwood, had been paid on a fixed percentage of the club's salary cap for some years. Sources suggest that Pendlebury, who just signed an extension and took a significant cut, was paid marginally below $1 million in 2019, but will play for far less this year and in 2021."
