Williamson just gave himself up with a loose cover drive that he didn't bother to keep down. And he's gone for 89. 4/185. Now, the batting starts - here comes Watling.

And so, the entire NZ Test batting lineup was surprised by the bounce and dismissed on the first ball of the day. Bumrah gets Watling and it’s 6/216.

7/250. DG and the new lad at the crease, doing well after Southee surrendered his wicket at deep fine leg to a ball from Sharma that would have been a good chance to be 4 wides if he’d just left it alone. Lead of over 80, now.

NZ 8/300. Jamieson was out for a very entertaining 44 from 44 balls (with 4 sixes, three of which were tremendous shots). DG still there. He's 33 and Patel is 4. The lead is 135.

It appears India are lucky they are only 1 wicket down so far in their second innings.

Blundell is reported to be off the field injured.

FTB Kohli makes half as many as Boult. India 4/113. They still need 70 to make NZ bat again.

NZ's 100th Test win in R. Taylor's 100th Test, making him the first man to 100 matches in each of the three international forms.

India lost their final six wickets for 47 runs.

2nd Test:

Wagner has returned, but Jamieson has kept his place.

India 242
NZ 0/63 (23).

Jamieson 5/45.

Stumps, day 1.

.....................

Another good day for NZ. They will hope that the openers can continue tomorrow and build a platform for the best batsman in the world, Kane Williamson.

Looks like they've found a good one in Jamieson.

However, Boult's figures are puzzling. 17 overs @ 5.24 r.p.o. Is he something of a Nathan Bracken ? ie. Under leaden skies Bracks took 7/4 in an SS match, against SA, who recorded the second lowest team total (29) ever, in Shield cricket.

A week later, under clear, blue skies, he returned 0/80.

Mitch Starc gets a bit ordinary, as well, when there's no swing, but he has speed to fall back on which the above 2 bowlers mentioned, don't/didn't.
