I left Eddie out when I was having a crack at our midfield this morning. Just going over the stats, again, it looks like he didn’t have a touch. Going back over all those other GFs, I see he didn’t get his hands on the ball in any of them, either. What’s the point of putting someone in a leadership role if they can’t get the job done in big games? Wink

AT the end of the day, he cannot be our President for eternity, that I do know. The ball is in his court.

He isn't immortal, eternal etc? Great observation, PnC.

If it is Eddie's fault that Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Treloar, Mihochek, Aish, Mayne etc.. had their worst games all year, that we were smashed in clearances, that GWS continually roved Grundy's hitouts yet our mids could not, that it took 4 quarters to play a brand of football capable of winning the game, that Cox, De Goey, Wells, Beams, Langdon were all injured, that we fail to recruit players of the calibre of Tom Lynch, that we constantly trade away our draft picks and do not do our due dilligence on players recruited who cannot get on the field due to injury, drugs, depression, that we fail to recruit quality Talls, our recruitment overall - especially decisions around recruitment of players who have never played AFL (or not in the last few years) - then by all means Eddie needs to step down.

While Eddie may be responsible for some of the above, you would like to think he has put the right people in to positions, that should be held more accountable than him for decisions they have made.

Personally I would rather be in Collingwood's position than teams like Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne who have all had instability within their clubs due to constant changes in management, coaches etc... than we have, and haven't been in a Grand Final or Won a Grand Final in quite some time.

Eddie has provided stability to the club and financial success. While on field success has not been there, may be this is a question more for the players, coaches, recruitment staff and those who get paid and oversee the employment of those people.

I do believe a cleanout needs to occur, but believe it needs to start with the players and possibly the recruitment team. Buckley also needs to rethink his strategy, especially around the recruitment OR lack thereof of quality talls.

It was our mids, not our talls, who lost us the Prelim.

There is only one team. And that team is Collingwood.

Roughie says hello. Moore's hamstrings say hello, then goodbye, then hello, then goodbye. Dunn's ACL says hello. Cox winks a hello.

Bucks really doesn't have all the say in recruitment. He has input, but that's it. Look at Wells and Mayne -- he had a big blue with Gubby in the corridor in front of everyone at the club over recruiting Wells. So maybe we need to give Buckley more say in recruitment?

We're currently looking at Howard from Port. And I'm sure there are others on our radar.

We didn't lose to GWS in the prelim because of a lack of quality talls. In fact, our defence was magnificent. We lost it in the middle and stoppages when Wills and Adams were choked, and Pendles and Treloar and Sidey couldn't get clearances.

I have no ideas any more. This club disappoints me 9 years out 10 (the premiership odds are actually worse than that - 2 in 60 years).

If I wasn't rusted on I'd give up. We are worse then hopeless as a club. We are teasers. Always promising much but delivering very little. That's got to be the definition of mediocrity.
