Hope you don’t have a “coronary” watching the game comrade 🤨😝

At least we know that there is no chance of having a "coronary" while watching the coronation.

If I remember correctly, benefactor John Wren had a heart attack whilst watching the GF and passed away shortly after as did Jock McHale

Yes, it is. Because the last time a Coronation was held , the Queen was in 1953, and the Magpies made the GF, an beat the Cats, in a tight match and it was called, the Coronation Premiership, back then. Now its 2023, exactly 70 year later, to the year, same time. So, maybe, just maybe its a good omen for us , can King Charlie bring home the Flag for the Maggies, time will tell, but you never know , hey. Heck im no big fan of Royalty, but if de ja vu can happen, then, as the Poms say, " Jolly good show ". Surprised Razz

If there is a causal relationship between British monarch coronations and Collingwood premiership flags, then we should definitely hope that the monarchy staggers along a few years more.
We should also hope that there is a high attritition rate with monarchs, so that as many coronations as possible can be packed into whatever time remains for this absurd institution.

The previous flag to 1953 was 1936 then followed by a royal abdication —we won the flag in September 1936 then Edward 8th in absolute disgust pulled the pin

That is true, though Neil Mann said post game, Wren was so happy he donated twenty pounds to each player, in the rooms, which back then, was big m oney. Both he and McHale passed shortly after the match, both got far too excited as it was very close game. I wonder what they would think of this side, today, that has close games nearly every damn week. Surprised Smile

My current one is we are more likely to win if I don’t go. I have flown to 14 matches this year but been at all the losses. I am not going to the last game so we will win.

The last game we didn't win that I went to was the drawn 2010 GF. Probably been to around 12-14 (in Melbourne) since then and we've won every one.

This year the sound of the Magpie won the ABCs’s “Australia’s Favourite Animal Sound”.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2023-08-19/magpie-australias-favourite-animal-sound-winner-science-week/102735560

I’ll take that. The only sweeter sound will be Magpie fans celebrating on Grand Final Day.
