Under head coach Tony Shaw, it was Frawley that played Presti at Full Back in the reserves. There's a lot of tributes around. From a personal point, I just want to say thank you for your time at Collingwood Danny.

A great full back, a great clubman, a great captain and a great footy personality. He was also great in the media. Loved by everyone.

Im sure Teddy met you at the gates.

I loved Danny. Was one of the few in the industry who saw the person first no matter what the controversy or circumstance they found themselves under the spotlight. He stopped seeing team colors when someone was in their worst moments and was the first to defend and forgive.

You just wont hear anyone who met him say anything negative.

He was a champion of the game, playing uncompromising footy in an era where the game saw some of the best forwards of all time. There was no such thing as "team" defense, It was one on one and Danny was one of the best.

Rest in peace Danny

I just couldn't find the right words yesterday and am still struggling to express my emotions today. It's just a gut-wrenching tragedy of huge proportions for Danny's family, his many friends, the St Kilda FC, St Kilda supporters and the whole AFL community in general, including supporters of all clubs. It is a senseless loss of a great individual, way too soon. It's a comfort to know that he will leave a huge positive legacy both in football (cheers for the back men!!) and in the area of mental health.

I so hope Danny found some peace and relief in his final moments. I trust our club and us supporters will wrap our arms especially tight around Dayne Beams and Adam Treloar.

I am really disappointed, with World Suicide Day being yesterday, I wrote on here that Spuds death was a suspected suicide & my post was deleted!

Three men a day in Australia commit suicide, stop treating it like a taboo subject & start talking about it!

STOP DELETING!

Mental illness is a bastard!

All the newspaper articles on the story today carried Lifeline messages. I think most people know what happened. No less a tragedy, but really hard to understand when there are so many many people worse off than ex-footballers and media personalities.

That's because Shawthing that mental illness, especially depression, doesn't care if you are stinking rich, poor or getting by nicely. It may be brought on to some degree by the stress of external factors, but it's the internal workings of the mind that go awry and then take on their own independent existence, entirely separate from the reality of the outside world.

^ Yeah it's a tough gig being a First Responder.

Many years ago, God I must've been a teen myself, a family friends teenage daughter committed suicide in the garage & for a few years after the event, her younger brother would look upon the oil leaks on the garage floor & claim it was his sisters blood.
No amount of explaining oil leaks to him would make him see otherwise.

The family had to sell in the end.

First responders have the toughest jobs in the land, and they deserve more love and support. It's shocking the way they're treated almost like supermarket checkout clerks.

I knew straight away in my gut Spud had taken his own life Just knew it. Bloody awful, and even though his family and friends won't read this post, I just wish them all the best and know they will get the support they need.

I understand that, but for God's sake spare a thought for his widow and three daughters. In their position I'd be thinking, geez you loved us so much you left us like this? Confused

He had far more going for him than most people. I've lost three sons from a previous marriage - barely see two of them, and one is totally estranged. I'd do anything to put the past behind me and restore the family unit again. Alas, all too late. But I'm still here!
