The latest:
| Quote: | Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.
Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.
In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation.
The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time. |

Statement from Roman Abramovich.
| Quote: | It has been nearly three months since I announced my intention to sell Chelsea FC. During this time, the team have worked hard to find the right custodian for Chelsea FC that would be best positioned to successfully lead the Club into its next chapter.
The ownership of this Club comes with great responsibility. Since I came to Chelsea nearly twenty years ago, I have witnessed first-hand what this Club can achieve. My goal has been to ensure that the next owner has a mindset that will enable success for the Men’s and Women’s team, as well as the will and drive to continue developing other key aspects of the Club, such as the Academy and the vital work of Chelsea Foundation.
I am pleased this search has now come to a successful conclusion. As I hand over Chelsea to its new custodians, I would like to wish them the best of success, both on and off the pitch.
It has been an honour of a lifetime to be a part of this Club – I would like to thank all the Club’s past and current players, staff, and of course fans for these incredible years.
I am proud that as a result of our joint successes, millions of people will now benefit from the new charitable foundation which is being established. This is the legacy which we have created together.

Tuchel sacked. The managerial merry-go-round continues at Chelsea.

Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel.
On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.
As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.
Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.
There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made. |

^Potter is definitely an excellent coach. The unknown is how he will adjust to the profile and egos.
E.g., I used to like Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves, but he couldn't handle the move to Tottenham.
If he handles the transition well, Potter is far less flaky than Tuchel. Brighton is incredibly tough to play against.

^ Potter's body of work at Brighton was excellent.
Really liked the way his teams play. Whether he can make the transition up to a big club remains to be seen.
A five-year contract shows a desire from the new owners to have him here long term rather than the "boom and bust" cycle we became accustomed to under Abramovich.

^Yeah, important point about the contract length, because it shows the decision is considered and probably much less sudden than it seems. That allows him time to adjust, which Nuno didn't have (probably because Levy already had Conte in mind).
Conte keeps reminding everyone how long Pep and Klopp, and now Arteta, have taken to build their teams. It's hard to argue against what is a pretty factual observation, especially now money is harder to come by and transfers have to work.

Potter departs after being in charge for only 6-7 months.
A tenure of very little positives and only heaps pressure on the new owners to get the next appointment right.

Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach.

We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.

We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high.' |
