Funny thing about Palmer is this: instead of doing his bargain-bin Trump impression, why not run on the fact that – as many of us on the left would probably be reluctant to admit – his party was the main reason Abbott’s 2014 austerity budget (remember: no welfare for six months, the medicare co-payment, higher education cuts) got voted down, and was primarily responsible for the perception of the government being useless and inept, leading to the collapse of Abbott’s prime ministership? That’s actually a decent parliamentary record to hang your hat on: "we saved you from the worst of Abbott". Instead, he seems to be doing his best to make us forget that the previous incarnation of the Palmer party ever existed (which is kind of understandable, given they were a rabble). Has he forgotten just how unpopular and politically toxic Abbott’s budget was, and how relieved we all were that it got voted down?

Mind you, I don’t actually want him to do this, because he’s a phoney grifter interested in nothing other than lining his own pockets and doesn’t deserve a single vote that comes his way. But he does seem to be a good example of how all the money in the world can’t buy political strategy.

Oh that co payment debacle!! I still remember watching in embarrassment as he tried to explain to Barack Obama & other world leaders what trouble he was having getting a co-payment through.... as if he or any of them cared?! Please go away Tony.

Some of the questions could be phrased better, but overall it's OK.

I landed dead smack in the middle of the grid.

Is one still allowed to refer to commentators on the ABC website in that way, Stui? Laughing

Sorry, if we're talking about commentators you're correct.

What was I thinking, I humbly apologise for using the word "interesting". Mea Culpa.

Don’t want to nitpick and I know this stuff is always relative, but it’s a weird diagram. For one thing, the Greens are further from the centre than One Nation (no offence to the ABC, but if you think the Greens are the most extreme left you can possibly get ... you might need to get out more). For another, I think you could make the case that One Nation are actually at least slightly economically to the left of the Coalition. And lastly, it scored me closer to bloody Labor than the Greens!!!! Crying or Very sad Laughing

It is relative and based on perspective. Lets just assume that the socialist alliance and the white supremacists are off that grid. Wink

I landed half way between the Greens and ALP.

I would love to see a compilation of the what is the most important issue to you responses - unless it's there and I missed it?

Watching little Bill and Sco mo on the hustings on the news tonight.

It takes a big effort to make Sco Mo seem charismatic by comparison, but little Bill does it effortlessly.

Like the Rubio-Bot that Trump broke during the Republican primary debates.
