Think about how America was (or was popularly seen) in the Bush era – a bunch of Christian fundamentalist, mouth-frothing performative patriots. Or think about the Tea Party era under Obama, when suddenly everyone cared about debt ceilings. Neither of those relatively recent trends on the right can account for the ascension of the Trump candidacy, and neither does the conservative, weak-tea Democratic Party of the mid 2000s bear a great deal of resemblance to the shape of the current primary. One of the most popular politicians in the country among young people is an open democratic socialist, and I'm not talking about Bernie Sanders – I'm talking about the even-more beloved Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I think if Sanders' socialism was the handicap some say it is then the political establishment would be a lot less afraid of him than they are. |
And who do you think the AOC I referred to was?
By the time she's old enough to be POTUS, she may just get there. Her time is coming, Sanders window has passed. |
But that backs up my point – if democratic socialism were such a boogieman, she wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell, yet people (correctly or otherwise) talk her up as a possible future president. So the notion that the label is an albatross around a politician's neck seems questionable at best. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Also, check this out:
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/483642-poll-trump-edges-out-all-top-2020-democratic-candidates-except-sanders
Quote: | Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is the only Democratic presidential contender to beat President Trump in a head-to-head match-up, according to a new Emerson College poll released Wednesday.
Sanders edges out Trump by a 51 percent-49 percent margin in the poll. Meanwhile, Trump leads former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg by 2 points. All those margins are within the poll’s margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.
Trump also leads former Vice President Joe Biden 52 percent-48 percent, an advantage outside the poll’s margin of error. |

First Trump, then Gabbard and now Bernie.
The only way to save the Republic is to vote for the DNC and establishment approved candidate - "Creepy Uncle" Joe Biden. Anything else would be treason. |

I knew the ruling class would blame Bernie's rise on Russia!

So apparently those devious Russians are now interfering in favour of Sanders as well as Trump! Just imagine if Sanders wins the nomination; they’ll do their utmost to throw the election to ... wait, which one!? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Absolutely killing it, too! Has won 47% with around a quarter of votes counted. Biden is second with only 23%. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

The Babylon Bee can be pretty funny for a right-wing Christian satirical website (who knew that was possible!?), but god they come up with some weird stuff sometimes. It's hard to think of a more hard-working politician than Sanders, so apart from old stereotypes about left-wingers being allergic to work, this is just like ... huh!? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

They do have more than just a headline, the articles are actually funny but they do seem to have a set against Bernie ATM _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
