I can get in. First article I see has this
Website blocking is a common tool for copyright holders to keep people away from pirate sites. While these measures are often mandated by court order, ISPs also offer voluntary blocking tools, to prevent subscribers from accessing dangerous sites. Comcast's Xfinity, for example, offers "protected browsing" which, ironically, will prevent users from reading this article.
If you are going to pinch copyright well they are going to fight back. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

ComCast is a American Company.
Though like the Blocking in Australia you can easily get around it with a VPN _________________ I am Da Man |

If it is a site for talking about committing the crime of illegal downloading of someone’s intellectual property, then it is good it has been blocked. Artists deserve to be paid just as engineers do. Free speech is always restricted when it directly encourages law-breaking. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

It does not talk about people Committing a Crime. They just Report on News in the Torrent Scence.
IF you want to do that then bloody lot of Stuff on the Internet Needs to be Blocked and Taken off the Internet.
You need to Block Youtube and Search Engines Then _________________ I am Da Man |

Those interested in the (alleged) manipulation of and harm caused by copyright laws as they currently exist should read or listen to Richard Stallman on the topic.
Synopsis: Copyright was originally intended to encourage creative works that would benefit society. "Free" as in "freedom", not as in "free beer". Not "defective by design" like Apple products (which Stallman therefore boycotts). Society needs a new, better pay model for creators. |

It has only been blocked by a protected browsing tool run by Comcast who have accidentally blocked other sites before including paypal.
How these tools work is that they scan websites for suspicious keywords (such as piracy, torrent, illegal download, child porn, drugs, etc.) and will block any website or webpage that mentions the keywords too many times.
It is likely that they will whitelist (permanently unblock) TorrentFreak if enough Xfinity users report it as a false positive. Regardless, it isn't going to affect us so here is no need to panic too much about it. _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

When I was in Defence my boss asked me to find all I could about a close quarter battle weapom that had been offerred in a tender. It was a Colt product. So I logged into the Colt Usas site and was blocked by Defence It as a "violent site". Rang IT who told me I had to get a minimum one star Generals approval to look at such sites . "We buy weapons, you are serious". Filled in the 4 page bloody request and trotted off to get signatures only to be refused. The Brigadier instead sent an email to Canberra to the big kahuna there asking why it had happened. Unblocked .
Then I gave up smoking and I rang our HR people and they sent me a kit with tips, contacts, advice on a free days leave, and websites including the Quit one which allocates you a buddy a bit like AA. Blocked, drug site. Again rang It. Fill in a form. I said no, use your bloody brains. This site has links on the OH and S site. I sent an email to my local MP who asked in Parliament why the Defence department blocked Quit smoking government websites and invited the Minister for Defence Personnel to look at the evidence. Within a month we had a clean out at the top and some retirements were pushed forward. I never got my day off because you were supposed to use that to visit your Quit coach and by then I didn;t need one. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
