A bit on AFL website
On De Goey. “Not as fit as he could be “ says Tyson Goldsack—an interesting
observation based on what
Anyone read it on AFL and is there any thing to be concerned about—his start last year was not what club expected _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

JDG has been on a modified program designed by the club, was walking alot of laps before christmas when i seen him, obviously not for no reason. Dont think goldy was having a crack at his effort. Sounds like the news have taken this out of context and slapped it on the front page of the AFL website. _________________ "One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told, eight for a wish, nine for a kiss, ten for a time of joyous bliss" |

Thanks for that and I found it difficult to see Goldy putting JDG in a bad light
As you say media putting the “sensationalised” beat up —that sounds more
like it
And he did have an operation off season _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

De Goey has been on a modified training program, so obviously, if you can't fully train you can't be fully fit. I didn't read the quote from Goldsack, but it must have been taken out of context. |

The hip that he had operated on was knocked which put him back into rehab
That put the brakes on his pre season—reckon Goldy ment that _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Having read the quotes, I think Goldy was giving him a bit of a clip. _________________ All We Can Be |

Reporter - Jennifer Phelan
Hardly Miss Phelan?
"He's definitely not as fit as he could be, but he is learning himself how fit he can be.
"In another four or five weeks, he'll be ready to go."
De Goey had hip flexor surgery in August that ended his season early, but was training freely in early December.
However, he was forced to back off his training load in the lead up to Christmas after a training knock unsettled his repaired hip.
AFL.com.au understands the setback wasn't serious, but it was enough to derail his program and means he'll more than likely be unavailable for AFLX on February 15.
Just another beat up to get a headline |

That reads to me as a veteran who has been through return of injury a time or two, letting a young gun know that you gotta push through the pain to get back there. Not injury pain, fitness pain. Staying fit is easier than getting back there. And that’s at a normal persons level. I can’t imagine what the elites go through! Not so much a clip. Its a bit of a concern for our year; My feeling is the rest of our midfield has peaked (with the possible exception of WHE) but DeGoey was just starting to show consistent form with an eye to more time in the midfield. I was banking on him having something of a breakout year - perhaps he will be a slow starter like Swanny. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

One would hope that at least a couple (you know who) would continue to improve their disposal skills...
If they've all peaked, Nicksters will be piqued.
And at that pick, JDG doesn't quite have the liberty to be a slow starter. |

I think there is a bit of a message for DeGoey in there about application and that he is part of the solution to us finally ending our time out of the finals.
You may remember from my training report that I was less than impressed with JDG's vibe. I sense that Goldy's in the same camp. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

well we can hope - I've never really considered disposal skills to be something that peaks at the same time as fitness say. I'd have thought it was something that gets fixed quickly or never. Of those in our midfield I'd think:
Pedders - peaked and fading with age
Sidebottom - peaked
JDG - best to come
Wells - peaked and fading with age
Grundy - peaking
Treloar - peaking
Blair - peaked and fading
Adams - peaking but might surprise and go up
Greenwood - peaked and fading with age
WHE - peaking but might go up a gear
Maynard - best to come
phillips - peaking - I think his skills are now WYSWYG.
I agree with the liberty to be a slow starter but when would you think someone did have that liberty...
Good on Goldy for calling it - if its a fair call, but boy he could get roasted if he is off. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

^ I would have thought his pre-season fight and delay last year would have been the wake up call required.
A year on and there are still signs of being slow to pick up the signals?
Treloar has groin problems last year and can improve.
Adams can still build composure and improve further
Cox should improve more too _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |
