Post subject: Eddie McGuire - Time To Go? | |
|
Now I realise I will probably cop a lot of hate for this topic but I'm genuinely interested on what everyone thinks. Is it time for Eddie McGuire to go? |

If he can't make the tough calls and continues to put his personal agendas in front of the club, than yes it's time to step down.
I didn't honestly think it'd come to this, but obviously it has. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

An EGM needs to be called and the entire Board put up for re-election. _________________ Cancel the Cancel Culture. |

That's exactly my reasoning for asking this question. For me the most disappointing thing about last night wasn't the fact we are 1-4 or that we had lost on ANZAC Day but knowing the situation wouldn't change and that Eddie McGuire would still support Nathan Buckley regardless. Everyone makes mistakes and I can forgive Eddie for taking a chance on Buckley and it not working out. However what I cannot forgive is the fact he continues to stand by him despite this whole charade now in a sixth year. It appears to me that he is putting personal friendships ahead of the football club.
I fully expect he will retain Buckley until the end of the year in the hope we can pick up a few more wins so he can come out and say "we showed signs of improvements after a difficult start"

Also when we have the EGM, we should change 'Side by Side' to 'Collingwood First'. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

I believe if Eddie abdicates the crown automatically goes to either Joe or Alex (whichever one is older). |

Yep he took the royal advice from them last year.
So he is probably waiting until the oldest one turns 18.
Can't be top dog until then for legal reasons.
passing the crown then. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

The club is stagnant
This isn't just a Nathan Buckley issue anymore
This is about why our club is the most vanilla, most dull it's ever been
Why our club has lost it's identity
Why other clubs are more modern and vibrant
Why one man can steamroll in a Gubby Allan when he feels like it
It's time to move on and freshen up _________________ We just got nutted at the clearances... |

Eddie did great things for the club and he loves the club. But things come to an end and it is now time someone takes collingwood to the next level off the pitch. _________________ Being at the 2010 GF victory was such a special moment. |

been calling for some sort of succession plan for the last two years on here...still all we hear are crickets from the club.
If the season maintians its curret tajectory Eddie will come out and say "I am thinking about going but someone always talks me out of it".
Anyone notice that the one thing eddie has never said is:
" I am aware of the fact I have been in this job for 18 years and yes I am not immortal, I will have to go at some stage so the club can perhaps start canvasing my replacement".
The most disappointing thing is that he is pushing to a point where he will have to be forced out of the job....Needs to learn a lesson from ole John Howard's mistake go while your still popular(ish) _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Didnt eddie get another two years last year? does the board come up for election at the same time as the president? _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Eddie and fellow director Mark Korda were re-elected unopposed ahead of the club’s annual general meeting this year on 27th February.
It means he will almost certainly push through the 20-year-barrier as president and will stay in the role until at least the start of the 2020 season. |
