Post subject: Umpires - in pics! | |
|
so since there is an umpires thread for this round, here are a few incidents i caught on camera: feel free to discuss, tell me if im wrong.
also, it matters where the frees are called, there are at least 2 close to goal, thats a possible 12 points, well depending on whos kicking it!
checkers, this was a push in the back every day of the week, no free:

this was way too late, even though Checkers kicked the goal, this should be a free or a report, it was deliberate, he took the shot because he could, you want to stamp out the shit, then this should be looked at, such a cheap shot:
ball is long gone
and the umpire is right there!!
he didnt see it coming
annnd here comes DeGoey, our expensive champagne footballer comes in and defends Checkers like he was a bottle of expensive spirits!! and good on him i say! strap in, i had to post for the expressions!
"oooh James bond is tickling my ear, ooooh"
"year nah mate its all good, he doesnt need your help!! just having a chat!"
WHE aka Bond: "cmon mate, let his shirt go!"
love Cameron and checkers, gees the drugsters dont go in to help a mate!!
oooh here they come when its all over!
and the umpire is right about one thing, he cant believe that dudes haircut!!
"imma gunna will smith bitch slap you if you dont let go!"
wills hand though
OH im on camera!! better do something constructive!

Great photos, TP! I thought the first (non-)decision was probably the right call; there wasn't a lot in it. The late hit on Mihocek should have led to a second shot on goal though, for sure. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

hmm, thanks for the reply, mate cheers.
i do think it was definitely in the back, especially when you consider they got a free and a goal from this one, and the guy propped, Moore did nothing wrong (well maybe at the barbers!!)
the face thats says, bullshit, thats bullshit, id love to tell the umpire thats bullshit!!

Canon 70-200mm L IS USM F4, on canon 7D mk2, I use the 7D for the extra zoom over my full frame 5Dmk4, and also because the 7D focuses faster and has a faster rate, 10 pics a second. The lens is every bit as sharp as the F2.8 but 1/3 the weight and size, and you don’t need F2.8 for sport outside. Cheers and thanks _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

I agree with first 2 - you could tell that live at the game, the umpires were on an Essendon loving spree after quarter time. The last one I didn’t see, and I’m not sure where the umpire was but easy to miss that one. There were heaps of frees they just guessed - the block on Moore where they called over the shoulder, but he didn’t even infringe despite being blocked! One free against Grundy when he was the only one going for the mark at forward 50 - god knows what they thought they were giving a free against him for he didn’t touch any one! But we got a couple in the first quarter and an even upper in the last, which is when the Essendon fans started leaving. When they realised the umpires had given up on them they knew it was game over!

First one was definitely a push, rule is one motion and it was a push then he took the mark.
The late hit can't be a free kick unless it occurs after the ball has passed the line. If it's still in play when he's hit then the advantage is the goal. If a player kicks a goal and is then hit late after it's crossed the line, then you can get a second shot at goal. |

great insight eddiesmith. i did not know that.
As for the DeGoey photo's, i cant help but to think that this is exactly what DeGoey did in PHD nightclub when his mate got into a bar fight. Stand up for your mates DeGoey!! You Champion and role model!! _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

regarding the Moore "in the back" decision, the anti-collingwood commentators observed that because he propped about 10 metres from the fall of the ball that it might have been a block.
That's the whole problem with our game. in nearly every decision, the umpire can generally make three calls and the rules would likely justify all three!!! _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

You’re welcome. I cracked the shits in the game day thread against Essendon, the spite and vitriol being spat at Sidey was second to none. So I appreciate the more mature positive folk around here! Terrific photos, what’s your camera of choice? I leave mine behind when I go to a game, had beer spilt all over my Sony A7 the last time. |
