A report today is saying AFL clubs will soon lower and raise ticket prices on games. They emphasise lowering and in saying that it is the clubs with least support that will lower the prices to simply get bums on seats. The power clubs will raise prices on demand games.

they're calling it "dynamic" pricing but really it just sounds like the variable pricing that didn't take off a couple of years' ago.

It looks like Collingwood supporters will be paying more to attend games. Most opposition clubs have put games against us into the highest brackets.

Flog Collingwood supporters and reward Melbourne supporters.
The usual crap from the AFL in screwing us Pie supporters over!

Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

While it seems the idea is that blockbuster games will increase and low drawing games against smaller and interstate opponents will decrease if small clubs use it as an opportunity to gauge the big clubs it's very easy for them to lose out.

There's nothing to stop clubs that can afford it dropping prices across the board or even retaliating against gauging small clubs by making home games against them more expensive.

With the potential for 4 price increases leading up to a game the winners out of this will be the ticket companies with their booking fees as fans look to lock in cheaper tickets.

Do we get anything out of this? Cause otherwise I say we charge the same for a 11 game membership as an 18 game membership, and they get nothing from our gate...

Yet more reason to buy a membership of some sort if you wish to attend games. Wink

Collingwood won't be doing it, Ed and Perty both said so.

Opposition clubs may raise prices when they play a home game against us, good reason to have a membership, but if you only go to a couple of games a year and wait til the last minute to decide, it's only going to be an extra $2-3 so it's not going to break the bank.

Looks like Collingwood aren't a part of the 'dynamic pricing', following article from 3AW with comments from Eddie:

Will be back to the 90s with free Bears tickets with every Big Mac sold.
"...Would you like Bears tickets with your fries...?"

Love the Gabba - Sheffield Shield crowds all year round, not only in summer.

Maybe the Suns can piggy-back in on the deal?
