Dustin Martin, apparently, allegedly got drunk in a Chapel Street Japanese restaurant last weekend. He was abusive and swearing.
When a female patron told him to control himself he swore at her, stood over her and threatened to hurt her with a chop stick.
This is an assault. The crime of assault does not require physical violence. Reasonable apprehension of violence causing injury is enough, which, according to the victim is what happened here.
Apparently the Richmond Football Club is considering, CONSIDERING, whether to penalise him. In this era of domestic violence, why wouldn't Martin be penalised by his club? Does the AFL regard this as good for its image?
Where is Caro when you need her? Imagine if it were Dane Swan!!! |

| I think the AFL will intervene if there isn't a sufficient penalty handed out by the Tigers. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out this week but police charges likely you'd assume. |

| Strange we also have heard no more about the rape allegations against a couple of Hawthorn players some months ago. Was this resolved in any way - or simply suppressed? Interested to know .... |

Pretty sure that suppression is the AFL's favourite method of dealing with such issues.......

Kevin Bartlett came out and suggested 12 months off and a $50k fine directed to a women's charity/cause was appropriate for Martin.
On balance a harsh penalty I thought, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear him take that stance against a Richmond player.

Definitely not robevpau1, in PC speak, that would be hurting/damaging the "brand"......

One thing I found annoying was in newspaper article reference was made
that Martin hung out with Swannie over the off season.
What has that got to do with the incident in question.
