Interesting that they were exposed by someone that simply wanted to cancel an account and was pissed off at being asked to pay a few. How easy they got user information is mind blowing. The ramifications of leaking the data could cost them dearly in some countries. Plenty of people beating the moral drum and saying Karma and the other side is saying the hacker/s are wrong.
Your thoughts? You can download the torrent file and you can blackmail away. |

Totally unethical, obviously - on par with hacking and posting celebrities' nude photos.
The worst thing will be the media outlets trawling the data looking for public figures to humiliate, along with the holier-than-thou posturing from all the virtuous monogamists on the side. Nothing like a good public shaming to keep the masses happy. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

*Sigh* As if that poor guy hasn't already copped it enough. Sometimes I hate American progressives. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Couldn't agree more.
I know you're not much of a fan of Girls, but I loved this scene from Season 3 (written by Lena Dunham):

Those are a bunch of jealous people that make a living appealing to our basest desire to see each other kicked while we’re down. |

I don't believe in karma, but if I did, some of the people responding smugly to this might find a few of their own unpleasant secrets released in the public domain.
And don't tell me you don't have a single thing that would embarrass you if other people found out. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Not a single thing. Cross my heart and hope to discorporate gracefully, not one thing.
Er ... but there may be more than one thing. Does that count? _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I would think that molesting young girls, including your sisters far outranks trying to go fishing for a bit on the side. This guy's skeletons aren't in his closet, they're dancing around laughing at the pathetic scandal of an AM account. |

Yes. These people must feel totally betrayed and violated by this massive breach of trust. But at least they have partners who can empathise with their feelings. |

I always think that every time I hear a politician get on their high horse about some transgression committed by a political opponent. Under the current criteria no politician would get elected if the public knew "everything" about them. |
