If Wellingham wins 2 brownlows, then MAYBE we could be considered as having lost out in this trade.

wow, I didn't expect 4 pages out of this little teaser.

To be honest, I hadn't thought of Wellingham once since he left and then I watched him have a brilliant 5 minutes for the eagles (which I was only watching while waiting for the pies - or was it after the pies? it was early in the morning for me), including a 70 meter goal.

I think the trade was smart then and I think it was smart now. It just explains why we went backwards a bit last 2 years. Not only did we lose the old guys to retirement, we gave up a few decent middle aged players with high trade value in order to build a really strong team for the future.

I'd have to have another look at it, to contemplate changing my opinion.
My initial impression on seeing the clip ad nauseam before the tribunal decision was that he lined Simpson up for a hit, in an impulsive attempt to "fly the flag" for the club.
The theory was good, but the execution sloppy and ultimately dangerous.

But certainly not in the farcical sense that was Sidebottom's St.kilda bump [3 weeks?], or Thomas's hit on Freo in late 2011, which effectively trainwrecked our momentum going into September.

I've always thought he was hard done by, and that footage still makes me cheer! Was bloody beautiful, just unlucky the guy hit the ground hard!

As for Daisy in 2011, watch the last round again, that's where we lost it, in the coaches box in the last round.

Happy to see the "one way bus ticket" for Sharrod. He's a cat,and the biggest turnover king playing the game.He is the oppositions 19th player on the ground . No loss for me.

Really? This is thread worthy? I can see the headline now:

"Former magpie has first good game in 3 years. Random internet Magpie supporter laments the loss of bog average player."

Any thread that makes it to page 4 has satisfied the criteria for a thread. it stimulates discussion.

Its certainly a better thread than "We should trade Witts, delist Reid and play Mason Cox!!!!" which are three current threads on page 1.......

^^^

Yep, if you don't like the thread, then don't give it oxygen.

Wasn't it Geoff Walsh who also added that wellingham never finished in the top ten in any of the B And Fs in all the time he was there ?
Maybe he was just unlucky ?

Wellingham played 1 elite game in his time at the club.

Pendles and Swan have done it most weeks for a 5+ year period.

Wellingham seems to have bulked up this year too. Something he never did at Collingwood.

Wellingham always looked good in our midfield and probably still would. Problem is our midfield wouldn't look real good with him in it Wink

If Wellingham would look good in our midfield then Dangerfield would look absolutely sen-f**cking-sational

And to those who say that Danger is locked into to the Cats I say screw the defeatist BS. They said the same thing about Buddy and the Giants.
