Post subject: Forward line restructure: well done Bucks! | |
|
The Gold Coast match and last week saw the superb swap of Cloke to CHF and Jessie White to Full Forward. The affect of this has been dramatic in terms of the opposition now being completely fooled by our forward entry targets, whereas previously we were too Cloke centric. Now with Fasolo's renewed form, Elliot's continued dominance and the resting of Pendlebury forward, we are much more unpredictable and the scoring efficiency for forward entries suggests so.
Credit to Bucks and the coaching panel plus the forwards involved. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

It's a great move & cant help thinking we should've done this sooner.
Maybe the necessary structures needed to be established first.
In any case, I love it & look forward to the versatility in our forward line. |

Now we need to channel the ball into the forward line through our better ball users more often.
Greenwood coming back will help this immensely, not through his ball usage of course but by increasing the number of hard heads we have at the coal face.
This of course helps release the smoother movers to be more constructive. |

Yep, rumoured knee tendonitis last season crueled his running but he's been steadily building back to the running beast we know and love.
One of the biggest bonuses of Cloke getting up the ground is that he provides a reliable outlet marking option from defense. |

Not bagging the coach - But the moves weren't rocket science.
Cloke up the ground, White FF with the added value of Faz and a sick Pendles down forward.
I would lose count of the number of Nicks posters recommending that for the last year or so. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Thanks Lazza. Most of my posts are normally met with chagrin or criticism. Having said that I notice Thompsac has replied with a reluctant positive/negative towards Bucks _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Wouldn't the actual forward coach have had a big say on any change to the forward structure?
Even Elliott when interviewed post game gave credit to Steve Grace for the improvement in the forward line.
This shows that unlike most football fans think, the senior coach of a club now isn't the be all and end all and doesn't make all the decisions.
Bucks is merely a manager of a group of coaches now, Roos and Bucks said as much last night on 360.
It's only on game day when the senior coach really becomes fully responsible for most moves during the game.
So well done Steve Grace. |

Great point. It seems a little strange to bag posters on nicks for criticism of the gameplan/strategy when the coaching staff has only recently decided to implement Cloke at CHF. That's something I've been wanting to happen for over two years now.
So we've beaten 10th, 13th, 16th, 17th & 18th. And we got 15th this week. Lets not get a head of ourselves just yet. On the right track by the looks of it but a massive 2nd half of the year to come. |

Obviously true but you can only play the teams the fixture has for you. It is what it is.
And no one can ever say for certain that we might not have beaten a 1st, 2nd or 3rd, albeit highly unlikely. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

I reckon Whites been the big winner in all this. It's far easier to play full forward than up the ground. His role is simplified now and it just allows him to focus on winning his one on one rather needing the smarts and awareness required for up the ground. |

Yes!
Rare that an assistant coach could have such low support amongst
the tribe. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
