Smart Key Forwards just grow on trees we can grab two or three at this years draft.

or maybe not.

Yes Cloke needs another tall forward to help out Moore is not yet ready and the hysterical calling for him to be the messiah is tedious. When Witts is ready then he and Grundy can be third talls. Reid will start in the backline according to Bucks but how long for is unknown, White is not up to standard hopefully Gault can step up.

Keeffe has committed career suicide and was never a realistic fwd. Brown has been tried and failed, Frost does not seem likely.

Basically this year Gault is the only option.

100 per cent correct - Cloke is just as ineffective now as a key forward as his old man was for us, (which is why he ended up in the ruck).

If we have to keep Cloke, why not try him as a key back, or perhaps in the ruck like David.

I'd like to see him go onto the ball in particular at centre square stoppages and go forward to cause a potential mismatch. Like the Hawks do with Roughead.

The Hawks are the masters at multi positional players.

We had one, Chris Dawes.

He looked bloody ordinary at the GWS game

Got to love how a perfectly reasonable OP gets turned into another post loss "let's throw the baby out with the bath water" thread, always amusing.

I agree with the OP, KPPs a definite priority come draft/trade time.

Walker would still lead up at the ball carier he'd just smash through those in HIS space to do so.

Cloke is a huge man but rarely ever smashes packs or players who drop in his space old school lockett/A.Rocca style. (note this is different to taking your contested marks where players are jumping into travis).

He doesn't impose himself physically on those who take his space and he needs to.

Exactly. He's meant to be the primary forward. The 50 metre arc is his to control and dominate

About the only person I've seen him mess up in the F50 lately was Pendles last year.

We move the ball to slowly into our forward line to give any key forward a chance, dumb or smart !
If you heard buckleys comments on 360, he said because the crows full press the corridor, they felt they had to go wide between the arcs to neutralise the crows strength.
In other words, cloke has to lead to the boundary because we stuff around with the ball and then enter our forward fifty via the flanks.
What hope has cloke got. The delivery is poor, our other forwards don't open up space for him and we are currently attacking via the flanks because we are worried about getting opened up down the middle.
And when he finally beats those odds, he cant kick straight anyway.

Trav dropped off quite a bit last year and shows no signs of having recovered much of his game so far this season.

Doesn't seem as strong, or fast or mobile and after ten years one must ask is it the beginning of the end for the big fella.

I agree with the OP, and would trade anyone except Pendles to get in a Breust or Gunston.

Serious question, do you think breust or gunstan would be as good a footballers if they were to have spent the last couple years at Collingwood ?

Conversely, would cloke be a better footballer if had spent last few years at hawks ?

I think both have made Roughhead a better player. I think these two are the Hawks forward line and guys like Roughy, Cyril, Poohead are better because of them.

Thanks whatsinaname.
I take your response as you wishing for them to come into the side with a view to working alongside cloke and not in place of him.
Breust is a ripper, super smart and the type who would complement cloke very well. ( rookie elevation too )
We can only dream.

We had a chance to snare Cameron McCarthy at pick 10 (went fro Freeman) in 2013 Draft whom was always going to be a unique talent. Would be a handy foil for Travis and Jesse if selected
