Stated that the Dayne Beams deal was at a stalemate. Sounded very much like Collingwood weren't happy with picks 5 and 25. He implied a ready made player was still required and if things don't work out by Friday then Beams will be a pie for 2015. Did get the impression that a deal is preferrable tho.

Him saying that its at a stalemate is different from what others journos are suggesting

I guess yeah.

Predictably he said he hopes Darcy will play in the ones next season but doesn't expect it as such. Spoke in glowing terms of his maturity (not physical) On Greenwood, said he was very impressed with his shutdown role on Heppell late in season.

Onya Derek. Stand firm. 5 and 25 would be one of the worst deals in recent memory.

I disagree. reckon we will end up doing it by Friday afternoon. And I think if the shoe was on the other foot we would be arguing just pick 5 and no more.

^^I wouldn't. No one considers that a fair deal, not even Brisbane.

That's garbage.

This time last year when the Lions were being reamed from all directions for their deserting youngsters, we resisted the opportunity to take advantage of their bent over position and gave them a fair trade, Paine who had kicked 45 VFL goals for Karnezis who had played good games in the NEAFL.

Port only gave them pick 22 for Polec, who was a pick 5 with some senior experience after Brisbane agreed to downgrade two other draft picks i.e. they ripped them off but good.

Brisbane should be remembering that right now

Who cares!

We have had a steady flow of experienced players retire or leave and we've now missed out on the finals.

Now is not the time to be the nice guy, we want pick 5 & a decent player & should stick to it.

Could you please provide a link? I'm generally pretty good, but I am unable to find it.

Paine would have been delisted, that's a joke. Port screwed them. Now they are offering picks one and two and you think they are screwing us? Let's look at reality, beams is dead to Collingwood. He won't stay. We should try to extract as much as possible but they last straw will be picks 5 and 25, and I bet my left nut we take it if we have to.

beams came as a higher draft pick and was developed. there is no reason why the same can't be done with a mid 20s pick.

the pick 5s look pretty good.

of those you list at pick 25 karnezis, white and ross still have quite a bit of upside.

It's possible, but not likely and if Brisbane what to argue differently, how bout we trade all our picks for all of theirs? They'd still have the same amount of picks and there's no good reason why they can't all be developed into players as good as Dayne Beams apparently, so it shouldn't be a problem that they attached to different numbers, right? Cool
