Post subject: Who'd win? | |
|
So a couple of fellow magpie supporters and I were discussing all thing Collingwood last night in the middle of the local footy ground and freezing our nuts off whilst our young fellas went through their paces at footy training. We were having some lively banter about what amazing depth it seems that we now have on our list and arguing the toss of: Brown v Frost Witts v Reid Young v Seedsman etc..
So it got me thinking during this Bye round (a time of reflection) about the scenario of having every single player on our list fit and in form (a scenario that will probably never actually happen).
OK this is probably a bit indulgent and maybe even a little cocky (and yes I have too much time on my hands), but here are TWO Collingwood sides that I reckon would mix it with most other sides. A bit like when we had Australia and Australia A in the cricket.
Who do you reckon would win? Pendles' Pies or Maxy's Maggies?
Here we go:
Pendles Pies
B: Toovey Brown Armstrong
HB: Fasolo Frost Seedsman
C: Lumumba Ball Freeman
HF: Blair Witts Sinclair
F: Kennedy White Dwyer
Foll: Grundy Pendlebury (C) Adams
IC: Scharenberg Marsh Oxley Yagmoor
Maxy's Maggies
B: Young Keefe Williams
HB: Langdon Reid Maxwell (C)
C: Macaffer Beams Goldsack
HF: Karnezis Lynch Elliott
F: Sidebottom Cloke Martin
Foll: Hudson Swan Thomas
IC: Mooney Clarke Broomhead Ramsay
In reality either of these sides could well take the field in the event of a diabolical run with injuries and we'd still be competitive I reckon, which is pretty amazing I reckon too.
I might put up a poll to answer the question. Cast your vote and tell us why...and feel free to reflect on what I reckon seems like a bloody deep list we have built that has me very excited for the present and the future. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Yep that's what would tip it toward's Maxy's team for mine.
It shows that's probably the one area of the ground where we don't have great depth. |

Yep swap Elliot and Sinclair over would give them a bit more goal kicking power and even it up a tad more _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Maxy's is an all over stronger team. The exercise does demonstrate very good overall depth though. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I disagree - I think we are very light on for half-back flankers if the first 9 get injured. |

Why would Armstrong be in the starting 18 instead of Scharenberg & Oxley if all are presumed fit?
I think it would be a great match though to be honest. |

Maxy's mob, in a canter, even though they are sadly lacking in the ruck department.

Yeah but got a way better midfield and a solid HB line... be a good contest, wonder if they might have played something similar a few times at training _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |
